From the five year residency I had in Detroit at the legendary MOTOR LOUNGE (1997-2001) - A special HOUSE set which was prepared for a Wednesday Night, the night before Thanksgiving.  House Heads will instantly notice a level of higher intelligence reserved for fans of Derrick Carter, Doc Martin, Mark Farina, Little Louie Vega, etc.  It's the essence of proper tuneage in an era which relied on vinyl.  I went on to win Detroit METRO's favorite CLUB DJ of 1999 for constantly packing MOTOR month after month which went on for almost 5 years.  Great times, Great people.

Reclaim Your City 250 | Ryan James Ford (Berlin)

During the 1990’s while growing up in Calgary Canada, Ryan James Ford was introduced to electronic music through the local rave and club culture. He began to discover, study, and collect the music he heard at these parties which consisted of a mix of Jungle, UK hardcore, Techno, House, IDM, and ambient. 

Fast forward almost two decades later to Berlin, where Ryan and his productions found a home in Marcel Dettmann Records. 2015 saw him make his solo debut on the techno stalwart’s label with an atmospheric and ambient leaning techno EP. The five-tracker easily conveys the rich influence IDM has had on personality and his production style. 

Although now, predominantly a techno DJ and producer, Ryan’s sets and productions are rich with inspiration from his time spent living in Calgary where he had interests not only in electronic music but also in hip hop, reggae, punk, experimental, and even metal. He began experimenting with production in the early 2000’s but it wasn’t until 2011, with a move to Berlin, that he started investigating his musical capabilities seriously.

Even though two decades have passed since Ryan’s introduction to electronic music, his love for early Warp, Skam, Talkin’ Loud, Metalheads, Novamute, Downwards, etc. can still be heard resoundingly clear in the strength and versatility of his sets and productions. The future will see Ford continue to play out and release on labels that share his like-minded affiliation and roots in the techno community.

Jon Hussey, a pioneer of the Irish Techno scene DJing since the early nineties, kick-starting at the infamous Planet Dub night in Dublin. He has promoted and resided at many Techno clubs throughout Ireland as well as playing in many Techno havens across the world including Amsterdam, London, New York, Bratislava, Berlin, Leeds and Turin.

In '99 Jon was among the first group from Ireland to qualify for the Red Bull Music Academy which was held in Berlin. Over the past decade he has kept this passion nurtured by being continuously involved in similar projects and innovations and recently organised a group of young rising Irish DJs and producers to participate at the pioneering PLUG “Plug European Electronic Music Conference” in Berlin. 

Music wise Jon has played alongside many of his all time favourite artists from Plaid to Surgeon, Joey Beltram, Jeff Mills, Steve Bicknell, Sunil Sharpe, Takaaki Itoh, Ancient Methods, Loktibrada, Rumenige, Dave Clarke, Mark Broom, Henning Baer, Inigo kennedy, Neil Landstrumm, Reeko, Grovskopa, DJ Boss, Bas Mooy, Perc, Hardfloor, Oscar Mulero, Jerome Hill, AnD, Truss, Paula Temple, Christian Wunsch and Exium!!

In 2011 Jon dedicated some production time with fellow Techno DJ Sunil Sharpe as part of a joint project under the moniker Tricaustic and released “the Caustophobic Pressure EP” on Komisch records which was well received and supported by artists such as Dave Clarke, Surgeon, Peter Van Hoesen, Anthony Shakir, Smear, Kriz, DJ 3000 and many more.

Recently the national radio station (2FM) were quoted in their Late Night Sessions Blog as stating that “Jon Hussey is one of the longest serving true purveyors of Techno in Ireland, running nights in the early days of Dublin's dance scene, when techno to most people meant U96 or 2 Unlimited. Consistently one of the best DJs around, Jon never lets the side down” giving a rare insight into Jon's personality as a DJ!
