Back in 2019. my friends from Monosaccharide and I got a request to play a live act on the NSNS stage at the Exit Festival. We never did any music together, and, besides our mutual love and respect for each other, never really collaborated. Challenge accepted!

We knew we were gonna be sandwiched between the relentless 999999999 and the head of next-gen electronica that is Blawan so we wanted to give the crowd a bit of a respite from the onslaught. After the decision on the general mood was made we proceeded to jam as often as our busy work and life schedules allowed us to and it all came together for this sunrise set at the NSNS stage. 

Big love to Dragana and Sreten, and a special thank you to Alek who kept reminding me to dig up the recording of this live.

All music by Commissar Lag & Monosaccharide. I was on Roland TR 8s and Elektron Rytm, Dragana and Sreten on Elektron Analog Four, Moog Mother and DFAM, Roland TB-03. Roland MX-1 and Mackie CR1202 to keep it all together.

The fourth episode of "Treadwheel" takes an attempt to heat up your speakers against the cold winter and looks back to 2024.
This time, I made a farwell bootleg for Italian maestro Rino Cerrone, showing my respect to his whole Rilis antology - he will be missed. Besides, you can hear a good friend as well from Transylvania, Ariana Belucci with a simple, but irresistibly hot cut "Girls Love Boys' Bum Too", which merges afrobeat, moombahton and classic 707 grooves. Watch this space, she has more under her belt very soon!

CIVIC INSTRUCTION are the 419th guests of our original HATE Podcast series.

Civic Instruction is the union of two visionary minds: UFO95 and Hadone. This duo project is a hybrid live experience, blending their unique creative perspectives into a seamless collaboration. In addition to their live project, UFO95 and Hadone are also launching a multidisciplinary label, Tesseract, set to debut in 2025. The label aims to serve as a platform for cutting-edge artistic expression, combining music with other forms of art such as visual design, installations, and experimental media. By fostering a community of like-minded creatives, Tesseract will explore the intersection of audio, visual, and conceptual art, reflecting the duo's commitment to innovation.

Lady Goccia (Alessandra Mendicino) is a DJ and producer from Crotone, born in ‘99. She moved to Milan in 2018, started her career in 2020, and later studied music production at SAE Institute. Her sound blends Berlin techno with tribal, hypnotic, and ‘90s-2000s house influences. She has played at top Italian clubs like Cocoricò and Magazzini Generali, sharing the stage with artists such as Fjaak, Dasha Rush, and SPFDJ.

At the peak of our longest event to date on Saturday, January 18th 2025, a NYC-based selector stepped into the booth at Masada to tell a story: a journey of tension and release, brimming with emotion and passion, a romance that lingered in our memories long after. We are beyond thrilled to mark the 100th instalment of CLOSERcast with none other than Holden Federico’s live recording of his 3-hour Masada set, to immerse ourselves into that beautiful, graceful and moving experience once more.

Philly-born, New York-based producer and DJ Holden Federico is dedicated to reimagining techno by pushing its core elements to bold new extremes. With a career spanning around 10 years already, Angioma is one of those examples of relentlessness and full dedication to the scene: label owner, event promoter and much more, he started the Room project many years ago in Barcelona but moved to Berlin in 2020, taking the concept to other cities in Europe such as Amsterdam, the German capital and more expected in the coming future. 

On the booth, he has only one objective: to set the dancefloor on fire with his blend of groove and hypnotism with a constant driving touch. Angioma is also a prolific producer with releases on Room Trax, Animal Farm, Made Of Concrete, Mind Medizin, and upcoming releases on industry staples like Soma and AMTK, and also Anaoh. His involvement and maturity despite his young age surely make Angioma an artist to watch.

MKO is a key figure in the Polish techno scene, with more than a decade of experience shaping Warsaw’s electronic music landscape. As a resident of Jasna1 and a member of the Slapsuper crew, he has been an essential presence behind the decks and in the community. Previously, he was responsible for the dype collective and a series of influential events, and today his full energy is dedicated to his own club night, Shadows, a project that continues to push forward the city’s underground culture.

Musically, MKO’s vision flows effortlessly between different shades of techno, weaving together deep, dubby textures, hypnotic and trippy atmospheres, and the timeless groove of Detroit. His sets are characterized by subtle shifts and an immersive sense of progression, designed to keep dance floors moving while opening space for introspection. With his distinctive style, MKO has become known for creating journeys that reflect both his roots and his forward-looking approach to sound.
