Russian Duo Iamthemorning Sign to Kscope and Announce Details of New Album

Kscope are pleased to announce the signing of iamthemorning, the latest band to join the label's roster.

Formed in 2010 in St Petersburg, Russia, iamthemorning feature pianist Gleb Kolyadin and vocalist Marjana Semkina.

After self releasing their debut album in 2012 and an EP early 2014, the band are set to release their new opus entitled Belighted in September. Recorded and mixed by Marcel van Limbeek (Tori Amos), the album also features Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree) on drums. Gleb Kolyadin, himself a classically trained musician, took great care selecting the right musicians to ensure a high standard of musicianship for both their live performances and recording utilising guitar, bass, drums, string quartet, and a number of rather unconventional instruments including harp, as well as performing as a an acoustic duet.
Taking their influence, both musically and lyrically, from the greats of the progressive rock arena including the likes of Porcupine Tree, Philip Glass and Kate Bush, their song writing is rich with metaphorical layers: referencing Shakespearean poetry, images of modern culture, visual aesthetics of Pre-Raphaelites leading the listener to deep emotional places. Marjana Semkina explains “there isn’t just sadness, loneliness and pain in iamthemorning’s lyrical field; there is beauty, happiness and hope as well.”

Solid Steel (17th October) This week we're delighted to welcome Ben Page from RocketNumberNine to Solid Steel. Following the recent 'Blank Project' album with Neneh Cherry, alongside his brother Tom and produced by Four Tet, we get an exclusive mix of new solo material. In fact so new, the tracks don't even have titles yet! 
He had this to say about his mix;
"For the honour of doing a mix for the legendary Solid Steel I wanted to showcase brand new, unheard solo tracks and to lay them down in a loose, improvised style in keeping with the spirit of RocketNumberNine. As a 14 year old growing up in Chingford, I would listen, courtesy of a friend's older brother, to the sounds of Detroit and Chicago and I think those sounds can be heard in these tracks...along with a good dose of Chingford Tribalism...!!
The setup is the same as for RocketNumberNine, with the addition of  an MPC for sequencing the Nord Wave and V Synth."

UK based Phil Joannides has long been one of the most under rated and underappreciated producers in progressive house. His studio creations are always immaculately crafted and come with a maturity and dance floor sensibility that is really rare nowadays.

Sound Avenue is pleased to present Future Motions latest collaboration with vocalist Leo Savan who previous to going solo was in a band with Florence Welch from Florence and the Machine. Together the duo have crafted 'The Way You Look' which comes with remixes from Beat Syndrome and Mehmet Akar.


The classically styled lines of The Way You Look are immediately refreshing. Soft bassy tones and cool vocal elements accent the tightly constructed framework as the track gets underway. Soft hypnotic synths create some great momentum while fresh electronic stabs provide some of the best hooks you'll hear all year. The track then strips itself down as it moves through a series of emotionally stimulating chord changes. As the framework eventually drops out a cool vocal gets introduced which adds an entirely new dynamic to the piece. The punchy groove quickly reappears and as the electronic elements build back up around the framework the undeniably catchy vocal hook returns for what results in a tasteful conclusion to this future classic.

Cloudcub was initially formed in late 2005, London, by Fil and Thom. We were later joined by Maria P. "Dalot" on vocals and guitar and bassist/multi instrumentalist Dudu, who helped to shape the sound of a live electronica band.
