Julianna Barwick's ethereal looping has the uncanny ability to adapt to the space in which she performs - be it a church, warehouse, museum. Now Julianna can add Dogfish Head Craft Brewery's new brewhouse to the list. 

Late last year, Dogfish Head Founder and President Sam Calagione invited Julianna to perform in the newly renovated space as well as to collaborate on a unique brew. This June, Dogfish Head will release Rosabi, a well-hopped Imperial Pale Ale, along with a mini-album composed by Julianna that incorporates the symphony of sounds found in the brewing process. Of the project Sam said, 
 
 "I just love Julianna's sonic palette, her layered style reminds me of the art of brewing. Her songs are beautiful but completely unconventional, just as our beer recipes are completely nontraditional. But in the end, they are both distinct and find an adventurous community of enthusiasts." 

The 10-inch record will be available in a limited edition of 1,000, sold only in sealed cases of six 750ml bottles of the 8% ABV Rosabi. Julianna's home state of Louisiana is reflected with a touch of red rice, her love of hops with Citrusy Simcoe and Centennial feed. Her go-to ingredient, wasabi, adds bittering and herbal notes - plus a subtle heat.

King of Cats - the project of Brighton-cum-Oxford songwriter Max Levy - will release a debut album, 'Working Out', on 29th September through Art Reeks, the collaborative label by Art Is Hard and Reeks of Effort Records - pre order is available from https://artreeks.bandcamp.com now.

Recorded by Johnathan Coddington in a big room with crystals, 'Working Out' is influenced variously by Internet radio, indeterminacy, Reeks of Effort (bands and people), the ability to buy guns from the internet, the muscular form and the village of Eynsham. It is a complex, frustrated and often very funny record. Lyrical and sonic comparisons can be made to Stephin Merrit, Scout Niblett, Alisdair Roberts or Frankie Cosmos and elements of the D.I.Y indiepop and punk scenes King of Cats inhabits often shine through. But the sound and personality of “Working Out” lacks a derivative quality, partly due to Max’s totally distinctive, powerful singing voice.
 
While not a wholly conceptual record, “Working Out” does centre on a few things which have been present in Max’s writing of late. “Most of the songs have something to do with the fear of being trapped in a feeble body, dreams of a muscular form and the relationship between one’s environment, one’s body and one’s being an idiot. I don’t work out a lot, but I think about it often”. Friction between ideas of bodily perfection and emotional satisfaction is something that he was trying to understand in the years writing these songs. “I didn’t get very far”.
 
Taken from the album, 'Dead Lamb' is streaming online now with Levy and bandmates Owen Williams (Joanna Gruesome, Grubs) and Adam Cave playing a number of live dates in the UK through September.

From Rosario, Argentina descend The Candy Dealers, a dastardly duo made up of two accomplished producers in their own right: Jay West and Christian Malloni. Their individual production schedules have seen tunes grace the rosters of Salted, Amenti, So Sound, Proton, and Candy Music. When time allows, the two come together in a Rosario studio space and become the mighty Candy Dealers. Eighth Dimension was lucky enough to catch the pair in this guise, snagging a soul-filled house music stomper by the name of "Danger Zone." It's decidedly a nod to an old school sound (and, yes, a certain old school song) updated for contemporary discotheques. The Candy Dealers' usual funky beat-play anchors tremendous builds, spiraling synth leads, and a vocal line that could stop a heartbeat. With an equally effective dub the two producers have bestowed a prime time package to be unleashed on deserving dance floors throughout the globe. As an added bonus, Eighth Dimension enlisted their Italian friends Ajello to whip out a heady remix in their distinctive style. Ajello is making serious waves with top work for Rebirth, Maxi Discs, and their own Danny Was A Drag Queen imprint. Their contribution here continues to impress with a synth-tastic workout that harks back to a bygone musical era while pointing the way to the horizon. These three tracks make for an enticing song set that should send DJs perilously heading into the "Danger Zone!"
