Mannix & Lisa Shaw’s gorgeous ‘So Much Time’ single was originally released in 2016 to great acclaim, now fresh for 2022, Mannix, along with a little help from Opolopo and André Bonsor (Schmoov!), has given it the makeover treatment for Dafia Records. Opolopo brings his signature jazzy vibes, offering a large dose of Funk with a NuDisco twist, along with some sublime key action. Mannix turns out a super funky Disco Dub, loaded with a mean bass hook, and rounding off the package, André Bonsor delivers a spacious Deep House rework, teased with airy melancholy synth melodies to compliment Lisa’s vocal.

Next up on Industry Standard we’ve decided to open up the doors again and welcome some new artists for ‘Bits ‘N Bobs Vol.2.  We have 3 tracks here from producers that are all friends with Oliver Dollar, namely James Curd, Jesusdapnk & Jason Merle.

First up we have Australian resident James Curd.  Having been a mainstay on the House & Deep House scene for some time, under his own name and as Greenskeepers, he has released on labels such as Classic Music Company, Exploited & Circus. His track ‘Born Twice’ is an uplifting jazz infused house affair with a hypnotic double bass b-line. A sure fire killer for the more discerning floors.

On track 2 we welcome US West Coast producer Jesusdapnk, who has featured on many of the hottest jacking house labels including Refuge, Robsoul, Too Many Rules and Nervous. His track ‘Anomaly’ takes a slighter deeper route with warm chords driving the track over a tight rhythm section. 

Finally on track 3 we have Jason Merle bringing some more West Coast heat! His track ‘I Gotta Change’ is a more underground, headzy affair with a track based around looping, filtered licks and a simply but deadly vocal sample. Not dissimilar to his output on other labels such as House Global Alliance, Cheap Talk & Viva.

So we have 3 tracks from some dope producers, providing you with top quality dancefloor Bits ‘N Bobs. Enjoy.

I remember the first time I heard this track. My ears perked up as soon as that classic funky piano started. As a DJ, I was scrambling to find my phone and Shazam the song before it ended (we all know this feeling). This coincided perfectly with my decision to start producing again, and I realized that this had to be my first project. 

What I love about this song is how it captures the essence of old-school downtempo disco. I initially thought the song must be 40+ years old, and was shocked to find that it was actually released in 2010. Midnight Magic does an outstanding job of replicating that old disco feel. 

Despite the track's brilliance, I feel like it is underplayed by DJs, and wanted to create a more upbeat and high energy version that is dancefloor ready. I hope with this remix is for more people to discover and dance to this underrated track.
