illich Mujica is a Venezuelan born, New York City-bred DJ who plays uplifting melodic tunes blended with dark and mysterious beats. His magnetic presence and spellbinding universe were already displayed at Amaya Society in NYC as well as at Camp Festival 2022 ; also on his own productions and edits, including Portishead’s version of ABBA’s « SOS » , on which one can sense his very personal touch of enlightening darkness.

With his new E.P named « The Constant Impermanence », Illich Mujica shows that the right track can transcend the opposites, day and night, East and West, light and darkness ; that the appropriate combination of beats and vocals can unlock the doors of our hearts as well as the ones of the clubs. The E.P includes 2 originals tracks and 2
remixes.

In « The Constant Impermanence » the hypnotic rhythm and vocals are supported by empowering beats in order to board us on a flowing and uplifting journey of resurgence. Where to ? Two ways are already open with remixes by Landikhan who takes « The Constant Impermanence » on a deep yet joyful clubbing path while KARLÏ’s slow motion ethno remix allows to appreciate the original track’s multiple layers even more.

With his second original track called « Surya Rising », illich Mujica takes us on an introspective trip through space and time starting with meditative vocals by Tory Stolper coupled with outer-space communications that lead to powerful ascending beats : a perfect opening track , from Berlin to Burning Man’s legendary sunrise sets on the Playa, that asserts the artist’s musical signature as well as his committed spiritual quest.

🦥 🪩 The Tale of Sloth Disco 🪩 🦥 

In the heart of Ramblewood, under a moonlit canopy woven from starlight and enchanted flora, the Sloth Disco comes alive. The sound of the kick drums thump deeply, resonating through the forest, making leaves shiver and creatures stir. As the night progresses, the beats grow slower, heavier, each note infused with an intoxicating magic that leaves everyone entranced.

Unbeknownst to the revelers, this night was unlike any other. Deep within the labyrinth of CAMP's enchanted HR department, a cosmic breach had been orchestrated, allowing a mysterious troupe to gain access to the portal, bridging their mystical realm to our own.

As the night waned, RAMZA’s set reached its zenith. The air thickened with anticipation, and the music began to slow further, each beat echoing with an otherworldly resonance. The crowd, lost in the throbbing tones, failed to notice the gentle rustling from the shadows at the forest's edge. It started as a soft patter, almost imperceptible beneath the music, growing steadily louder.

And then, they appeared. Moving with languid grace, a group of sloths emerged from the darkness, their presence a slow, tantalizing revelation. Draped in glittering costumes, they began a mesmerizing dance, each motion a spellbinding allure that drew the crowd into their orbit. The atmosphere transformed, becoming a dreamy haze of sensuality and wonder.

In that moment, it was clear: what was disguised under the thumping bass, was the rattle of the encroaching sloth troupe, only allowed to gain access to the cosmic portal, through a breach of the HR department at this magical CAMP. Calling Peggy…. ring ring ✨📞

I am beyond excited to present to you the recording of my 5.5 closing sunrise DJ set for the Calling All Magical People (@camp-festival) 2025 set. 

This was a meaningful, special one, celebrating the 4th of July in a time of the utmost turmoil in America and in the world. I knew my commentary about America in the 4th of July had to be bold this year, and I risked killing a dance floor in making a statement about waking up to salvage democracy in the face of the rising and nascent facism taking root in the USA.

I hope you enjoy this journey, and I thank the dancers for being patience with me as I walk off stage due to technical difficulties, it took us amount to get started but we got there. 

Special thanks to @thezoharportal for collaborating with me in reading Mary Oliver’s poem “The Journey” for the intro track to acknowledge the collective grieving of relationships ending, and for the beautiful messaging that I was able to sprinkle with her poetic, mystical voice through the set.

My heartfelt thank you to the CAMP team and Therapy sound for believing in my vision and to Mick and Michael Z for setting up the tarp and the flag and everything else as we were battling the rains and broken CDJ’s - this truly was a collective odyssey into the new day of a new America.
