Jazz Mix 5 here, just in time for warm summer nights, with a Latin Jazz / Afro Cuban / Mambo focus. This was extremely fun for me as I knew very little about these genres and had a lot of fun exploring them and compiling over the past few months, though I still feel I've hardly scratched the surface. The stories behind some of the musicians are absolutely legendary, like the Palmieri brothers or the king himself, Tito Puente. This mix takes you over a 20 year time span from 1952-1972, with some classics of the genre and a few lesser known albums. I hope you enjoy!

"I recorded this set on a Friday night at Kasheme. I got to play for the first time in our newest lounge, the Gallery. From the beginning I knew what direction I was going to play, as quiet as possible - Kasheme style. In the end I entered the venue with 4 big record cases and played for over 8 hours.  I am very happy to contribute this set to my friends from Ojoo Music Ghent for their fruit series. I hope that this set will bring peace to the listener during this times....- Soulmate

My @kashemezurich session from their lovely living room & cocktail lounge in the heart of Zurich back in September. I went full 90s hip hop instrumentals and related downtempo for this one. Although it was my first time mixing all of this music together after collecting most of it during 2022, and not as tight as I would like it, it was definitely a nice vibe at the time...hope you enjoy! Oddly this is the first jazz mix I have ever compiled. More of a curated playlist than a mix, though I did some editing for levels and to make all the gaps between songs just the right length. It's mostly more recent favorite discoveries of mine with a lot of the classics I remember my Dad playing regularly while growing up, and a couple more obscure items that I've come across, like Charlie Mingus playing solo piano to open the mix. Most of this jazz is from the same era, more or less. There were some older and some more contemporary pieces I wanted to include but I found they threw the sound and the vibe off somewhat, since the quality of recordings varies so greatly. There is also a lot more weird and more experimental jazz I adore that I did not include in favor of keeping this more relaxed and smooth. It was so much fun to compile, for almost 2 weeks straight I listened to pretty much exclusively jazz, and assembled around 5 hours of music which I then reduced to this shorter ride. Enjoy

It was time for a new one! I listened to a lot of records I had never heard before for this, and also included some favorites of course. The format is similar to the first one, I like doing blocks of 2-3 songs from a particular album or group, and Bill Evans is always great to start with. The time period is roughly the same, late 50s through the 60s, though it ends with a bit more experimental works from Pharoah Sanders from the 70s. Although it's almost an hour longer, there is a bit less variety of artists because lot of the pieces are longer ones, all really great works in my opinion.
