“Frankfurt native Andreas Baumecker aka nd_baumecker began his DJ career in 1991 in a bar called Romantica, located near the city’s main train station. The venue was run by legendary nightlife impresario Hans Romanov, who also operated Intimbar, where Baumecker would eventually move on to a short time later. It’s there that Ata and Heiko M/S/O from Playhouse took notice, inviting Baumecker to work as a buyer for their record store Delirium and offering him a residency at their seminal WildPitchClub night at the Club Nachtleben. Soon, Baumecker was regularly playing Frankfurt’s numerous electronic music venues (Box, XS, Music Hall, Dorian Grey), before moving on to Heidelberg, where he promoted the club night HD800 together with Dirk Mantei aka D-Man. After a short stop in Mannheim, regular guest DJ sets at Berghain / Panorama Bar predecessor club OstGut in Berlin, and establishing his own label Freundinnen Audio, nd_baumecker moved to the German capital in 2004. There he not only picked up a residency at Panorama Bar inside the newly opened Berghain but also started a job as the club’s in-house booker.
Stylistically, Baumecker covers a truly broad spectrum of dance music, refusing to be limited by genre: "A well known choreographer once said: 'Surprise is important.’ I think this approach describes my DJ style best. I’m constantly oscillating between disco, house, techno, electro, broken beats and pop. Ultimately, I’m open to anything – from brute force to tender. I see the dance floor an experimental field: If you manage to really capture the crowd, you can do almost anything with them." Of course, the flow of tracks and resolving musical differences plays a key role in achieving just that, and few DJs are as adept at uniting fundamentally disparate sounds, different keys, different rhythms and different atmospheres. „If something sounds truly new to me they give me a jolt. Also, dance music should have a good portion of funk and, in a way, it needs to sound like disco, whatever the style. I like vocals a lot. In my opinion they are the most important and significant bits you’re taking home after a good night out; they’re the most memorable."
Since 2010 nd also produces with Sam Barker as Barker & Baumecker. The duo have released four 12”s and two albums on Ostgut Ton, operating musically between dancefloor and spiraling left field electronics. Finally, 2018 sees release of nd_baumecker’s Panorama Bar 07 DJ mix.”

Based in Berlin for over a decade, dynamic Austrian duo Foehn & Jerome have drawn influence from their surroundings, holding down a residency at Club der Visionaere with their Perfumed Freedom events, cementing themselves in the thick of the melting pot scene of the city. In the next period of their career they will explore new territory, extending the Perfumed Freedom umbrella to a record label, releasing music from themselves and other artists they admire, and a fresh label alongside Alexander Skancke and Henriku, titled “TBH”.

After becoming flatmates in Berlin 2011 they began their joint quest holding down a residency at Vienna hotspot Grelle Forelle for the “Cafe Sturz” events, during this time they hosted the likes of Zip, Sammy Dee, Vera and many more. They then moved their attention to Berlin and ever since have been residents at Club der Visionaere, with some early events under various names before starting their anticipated Perfumed Freedom parties in 2018, allowing them to grow an extensive community through the years, and still going strong to this day inviting artists such as Daniel Bell, Thomas Melchior, Mathew Jonson, Eli Verveine, Losoul, Rhadoo, Vale Colvin, Felix Hk, Idit Frenkel amongst many other fantastic names.

Their intricately arranged productions have led to Foehn & Jerome landing music on integral labels throughout the years, all of which have inspired their journey. You can discover their music on Sammy Dee’s iconic Ultrastretch, Barbera Preisinger’s Slices Of Life in collaboration with Alexander Skancke on “Public Trouble”. Other bodies of work have been released on Det Gode Selskab, Kopf Bei Fuss, with their earliest work on their co-founded label “Untitled 100” with Argenis Brito and Thomas Grün.

Essentially the lifelong works of the pair will now all be directed under the Perfumed Freedom brand, growing a platform to express themselves, gathering ideas, innovative music and their creative vision under one roof, allowing it all to come into fruition.

Any historian who takes it upon themselves to pen the tale of Canadian electronic in the years to come will most certainly find the name Mike Shannon figures early and often in it’s telling. From his humble beginnings in the sleepy suburban town of Kitchener Ontario, the last 15 years have seen him become an internationally lauded producer with albums on 3 of the industry’s most respected labels (Plus 8, Force Inc, ~Scape), as well as a steady stream of consistently charted singles and remixes.

A true “DJ’s DJ”, he has won legions of fans and the respect of his peers alike for his deep crates and lightning fast mixing skills.  And while some may suggest he has gravitated towards smoother, deeper selections as the years go by, those in the know will tell you he has few equals when it comes to whipping dance floors into a relentless techno frenzy should you catch him on a night with that mischievous twinkle in his eye.

Those fortunate enough to catch one of Mike’s rare live performances are encouraged to do so with an open mind, as it is in this context that the breadth of his creativity truly shines. From the shuffling house and techno of his solo performances to the narcotic jazz of his new Blue Fields project alongside singer Fadila and guitarist Takeshi Nishimoto, his is a musical vision which easily wriggles free of the usual genre signifiers and pays grand dividends to those with the good sense to get nice and close to the speakers; the devil is most certainly in the details as the old saying goes.

Yet beyond all of this, perhaps his greatest achievement has been his unfailing support of the music and people he loves. As head A&R and damn near everything else of Cynosure and formerly Revolver Canada Recordings (alongside Jeff Milligan) for over 10 years, Mike has shown an uncanny ability to select and release tracks which have become go-to fixtures in the sets of the industry’s best DJs, as well as introducing the world to the work of some of his nearest and dearest before anyone knew their names (Akufen, Deadbeat, Ernesto Ferrerya).  Far from pursuing the next one hit wonder or sound of the season, his steadfast curatorial vision and passion for the music have earned him the trust of discerning music connoisseurs the world over.
