Since its inception in 2013, Mawimbi founders have been expanding their knowledge of lesser known and rather undiscovered musical territories thanks to chance encounters with likeminded DJs/producers, who were kind enough to put them onto a good amount of under-the-radar tropical gems.

Launched in 2017 and named after Mawimbi's bi-monthly radio show on Rinse France, the "Radio Mawimbi" compilation series is dedicated to unearthing vintage tropical gems in the form of free download edits and remixes by some of the most seasoned diggers and promising rookies of the tropical-enthusiast community!

From deep, drum-heavy workouts to essential Guinea Bissau melancholy, through remixed Beninese afrofunk and vintage South African kwaito, this second installment features the editing and remixing works of Yeahman (Frente Bolivarista), LSD (Love Saves The Day), Déni Shain (Antagana Records), Umoja, Mawimbi, ATW (Around The World), Calisto, Turbo Boom-Boom (TBB) and Midnight Ravers.

Gozar & Captain Planet (@djgozarla & @dj-captain-planet) reinterpret a forgotten tune to fit in on a modern dance floor. It's perfect for welcoming in the summer sun. 

In Captain Planet's own words - "Gozar and I have both connected over our shared deep love and appreciation for obscure vintage music from Africa and the diaspora since we first met at a warehouse party in 2011.. I think? He had just come back from Colombia with a stack of dusty Cumbia and folkloric LP's, and I was a recent transplant from Brooklyn who didn't know any locals yet. We clicked, I started coming to more parties that he and the Subsuelo crew were throwing, then I became an official member of the crew sometime around 2015. For those who don't know, Subsuelo is a tight collective of deejays, musicians, and one feisty photographer, who have been throwing global club nights in LA since 2010, often incorporating our trademark live flamenco meets hip hop element as well as providing a venue for guest artists and deejays from around the world. Josh (Gozar) & I (along with Canyon) opened the Subsuelo headquarters together that summer in an old rundown dentist office in Filipinotown that we converted into shared office/work space and a recording studio which became our base for daily operations. The space is constantly buzzing with group meetings, late night soiree's, and lots of vinyl records in rotation (like the one which gave us inspiration for this track together), with an occasional soundbath or yoga class taking place there as well. This song will not be available on Spotify, iTunes or other DSP, because quite frankly, we have sampled an old record and don't want to monetarily profit off the music. But we are happy to give away the tune for free download off of Soundcloud and share our updated dance floor take on this classic West African guitar band sound."

Gozar adds "I originally found this track on a trip to Barranquilla, Colombia back in 2011. I got some burnt MP3's full of tracks that DJ's play on the "Pico" sound systems - Salsa, Cumbia, Champeta, Dancehall and tons of African tunes. I actually took some photos and wrote an article for a Mediellin magazine my friend ran that you can check here, here and here. This one always stood out to me and was one of my staple tracks when Subsuelo first started. I'm excited to have a chance to collabo with Charlie and get a remix out there!"

This project is all about going back to my roots: pulling out obscure vinyl from my global collection, then lovingly chopping, remixing and editing them into new tracks with a contemporary edge and classic Captain Planet touch. All 9 edits have been blended, along with other audio samples and field recordings, into a 45min mix, which will be printed to cassette tapes like my earliest mixes from the late 90's. Similar to Mystery Trip Vol.I, which was listed in Sasha Frere-Jones "Best Music Of 2012", Vol.II leads you on a psychedelic journey to destinations around the world, where you are drawn out of your sonic comfort zone via a soundtrack that bridges styles of music from Asia and Africa to South America, The Caribbean and beyond.

Gala Gala tells the story of a village bully. It will transport you to Alego region, western Kenya, where all villages tell of his behavior and of their tiredness of all his wrong doings.
The innovative style of Gala Gala could be called electronic Benga: it borrows a lot of influence from this sound born in the region of Lake Victoria, but is also merged with electronic sounds and arrangements.
The Artist Ngalah Oreyo is a musician and music producer from Kenya. He is a successful musician who founded the award winning band Yunasi, with four childhood friends.
After many years, of working with Yunasi, Ngalah Oreyo decided to venture on new ideas which involve experimenting a lot with traditional and electronic music.Gala Gala is the first song from his upcoming EP.

From St Lucia to Jamaica to Ghana to Colombia, London born duo The Busy Twist have travelled the globe to create their dance floor killing productions. 

Their debut EP 'Friday Night' combines these cultures, respectfully crossing sound boundaries and joining the dots between Afro House, Kuduro, Latin and Uk Bass. 

The London Luanda Remix Series is the result of digging into 1970's popular music in Angola. Acclaimed by BBC radio host Annie Mac, and supported by the likes of Jillionaire, Buraka Som Sistema or Toddla T, some of these remixes are already being played throughout clubs and parties all over the world, but were never officially released. 

The release of these classic tribal reworks was eventually made possible thanks to the group’s recent trips to Colombia, where they worked alongside Systema Solar, Ghetto Kumbé, Nidia Gongora and Palenque Records, for an impressive variety of original productions, collaborations and remixes. 

In alliance with Colombia-based label Galletas Calientes Records, one of these fruitful encounters, the London Luanda Remix Series was finally materialised.

The perfect fusion of creativity and organization as well as the composition of acoustic and electronic music has become the Clubcruise Music trademark.
The founders of this Label Max Doblhoff, Michael Schallmayer & Jakob Zdarsky complemented one another in their competences of management, organization and off course music production and composition. Today this label is run by Max and Michael. The love for Rare Grooves, Acid Jazz, Funk, Disco, Electronic Beats, House and the intense influence of World Music is definitely present in Clubcruise Music releases – yet not to be reduced to these genres only.
