We started Clubwerks 6 months ago so we could showcase the work of a couple of artists who impressed us with their novel music-making powers. Many more appeared on the way so it grew fast into a label with a busy release schedule for 2015 that will also feature music by some of the new talent on this compilation.

The Clubwerks Christmas Compilation is our kind of a family reunion for the heads but also, objectively speaking, an arsenal of novelties and functional club tracks wrapped up neatly in a cohesive set. These are tracks to be experienced in dark rooms or open fields, so what better way to show them off than in a sequence. There are never enough good dance tracks in a DJ's collection and all of these could easily stand out in any so we hope you'll be hearing these in a club near you.

B.O.M is yet another incredibly promising young Swiss producer from Basel to join our expanding Clubwerks crew. His music is unexpected and as intriguing as it is straight-forward. He makes slowly-building impactful drum tracks that draw on ghetto-tech, touch on stripped-down bass music and exude clubby functionalism intended for minimal-leaning, open-minded crowds. 

With the exception of Jucy, the gorgeous house chant that opens the Abracadabra EP, all tracks are percussion-based jams packed with clever and fun instrumental moments alongside cool vocal hooks. 

Each track has a particularly strong personality and seems better than the previous one, which is a rare feat on a 6 track EP. With the arrival of artists such as B.O.M we can only anticipate more and more surprising music such as his, because this EP is nothing short of a definition of Clubwerks' musical intentions.

Lando Kal (a.k.a. Antaeus Roy), one half of Bay Area electro duo Lazer Sword, follows up his 2011 debut for Hotflush, with two cuts overflowing with the darkness of a long Berlin winter.  A major player in both San Francisco and New York’s underground club scenes, Lando's love of R&B, dark jungle, Detroit techno and classic house is front and center on these two bass heavy productions.  

The infectious Rythym Sektion comes on strong, Lando expertly weaving the vocals of the 1991 rave classic hinted at in the title with threatening drums and kinetic percussion. On the flip, Lando's dynamism is on display, as Inquisition's syncopated beats swagger along, insistent and knocking, drawing you into its multi-layered paranoid rhythms. 

Lando Kal has released on respected labels Numbers, Rush Hour, Sugarcane Recordings, Still Cold, and has remixed the likes of Sepalcure, Hovatron, Salva, Sepalcure and Doc Daneeka.  Up ahead, lookout for a single dropping on Leisure System, the notorious Berghain party collective and label.

The fifth entry in the DISPLAYSOLO series sees UK producer @thugwidow showcasing his signature blend of brooding ambience and euphoric rave stylings.

Manifested in the artist’s own dreams, Goliath’s Twin maintains a steady push-pull between meditation and acceleration. Winding breakbeats emerge through dread-inducing ambience only to fizzle back into the abyss and be reborn accompanied by rugged basslines and more break-neck rhythms. Rave sonics mold into intricate entanglements that only live for brief moments before mutating into something new and unfamiliar, all evoking the delirium of being lost in a hypnagogic dancehall. Dark and murky, the two 15 minute tracks maintain a distinct aesthetic while undulating between these foggy and lucid visions.

Recorded in London over the dark days of Spring. “It’s quite raw.”
