It’s been a long time since you washed your clothes. The pile of laundry in your bedroom creeps further towards you every time you hurl another sweat-filled sock at it. Two, three weeks now? Excuses keep flowing. 
 
‘I don’t have time.’ 
‘Fabric softener is too expensive.’  
‘Those pants can be reused.’
 
You shouldn’t reuse pants. You know you shouldn’t reuse pants. 
 
A month of non-washing passes and it becomes too much. Some of your family aren’t talking to you anymore. Your partner’s eyes are starting to wander. Even your milkman has shunned you. 
 
You do the right thing - book a half-day off work - and do some laundry. 
 
Click goes the door of the washing machine and it’s off. You stand back, impressed with yourself. 
 
Round and round and round, it goes. 
 
Slowly at first, a warm feeling of bliss starts to grow and envelope the soul. 
 
Round and round and round, it goes. 
 
Gone is the nausea! Ridden are you of the guilt, the embarrassment, the social pariah-status! 
 
Round and round and round, it goes.
