Concept:


The pulse of the path.

In a massive heartbeat, daring waves rise one after another. The unbreakable tide of the lightning dance, where life and death collide in the eternal vibration of consciousness.

In previous centuries, Ukrainian warriors invented an audacious macabre ritual called Herts, a courageous death dance. Before the battle, a few ruthless Cossacks would leave their ranks to perform a mocking dance right in front of their enemy lines, laughing and shouting insulting indecencies at them. Herts, a mixture of laughter and death, was a psychic attack to crumble and degrade the enemy soldiers’ morale.

And today our ancient Herts have returned to Ukrainian fighters to stand once again in front of the enemy, facing and mocking its grey unconscious masses of non-beings with fierce laughter.

This album is dedicated to those who can stare into the abyss with a smile. Fighters of the fight, for their home and their heart.

Cluster Lizard – an interdisciplinary mixed media project by two Ukrainian artists Dmytro Fedorenko and Kateryna Zavoloka, based in Berlin.

Cluster Lizard uses experimental electronic music as its main element, integrated with analogue and generative video, photography, abstract paintings, and computer graphics.

Conceptual inspiration for Cluster Lizard was driven mainly by futuristic ideas of some prominent science fiction writers, experimental and radical sci-fi movies, abstract painters, futuristic techno-activists, and many other great artists, who offered their view of the future, far and near, social and esoteric, technical and spiritual.

Cluster Lizard creates a dystopian soundtrack for a bizarre sci-fi movie that has not been filmed yet.

Ukrainian-born and Berlin-based Zavoloka is a blossoming composer, sound artist, performer, and visual artist who devotes herself to orchestrating uncompromising experimental music free from genre-dependent definitions and styles. Her works always stem from a very strong conceptual base, unveiling creations that are more than just music, exhibiting deep artistic research, and combining traditional and mechanical elements to show the boundlessness of her creative freedom.

From performing tantalizing live audio-visual sets and partaking in cross-genre art projects, co-running the experimental music labels Prostir, and its sublabel I Shall Sing Until My Land Is Free, and label Kvitnu (closed in 2020) with Dmytro Fedorenko (Kotra, VARIÁT), forming a band with Fedorenko called Cluster Lizard, and being renowned for visual cover art creations and graphic designs, Zavoloka is well and truly making an indelible imprint in the world of music and art.
