As a DJ, a part of the Unabombers and as promoter of the legendary Electric Chair nights, Homoelectric, Electric Elephant Festival and Homobloc, Luke Una was not only contributing massively to Manchester’s 80s and 90s club scene but still carries a deep passion to share his music in clubs around the world. He is the curator of seminal compilations such as the Electric Chair and Electric Soul series as well as his latest É Soul Cultura project and label.

This Session was recorded for "Kasheme Conversations", an interview series from, with and for music lovers. This month with Luke Una.
In our conversation, Una shares what caused his relentless pursuit of music, why he would not call himself a record collector and why he is, as he calls it, so evangelical about music.

The debut of Carl Maxfield, “Aesthetics EP” is an instrumental house heaven. In a time where house music trends sound formulaic and lack feeling, the “Aesthetics EP” is seamlessly aligned with the sensibility that only the 90’s could foster. The Ep makes an interesting blend of live instrumentation and electronic programming that is both timeless and sonically versatile.
 
“The Call” is blissful Balearic deep house at its finest. Its welcoming jazzy keys and airy pads combine in a warm-hearted and unmistakably groovy introduction to open up the EP. It beckons to be played in the midst of a sunset gathering.
“True North” leads us down a deeper path, one that’s bound to make you move. Versatile and punchy, it’s tough bassline and enchanting flutes are vibrant yet subtle.
“Got This” is an underground house banger that is driven by a sophisticated and enveloping afro beat rhythms. The track features a layering of jazzy keys woven with dance floor bliss, free from concern.
“Sirius Space” is a hypnotic journey into the stars. The ethereal groove that rides beneath the Santana-esque guitar playing; it's an astro dancefloor jam.

“Aesthetics”, is the debut release from Maxfield’s label ‘Chumao records’ and is an absolute must for lovers of Golden Era House music. A truly versatile addition to a DJ’s record bag.
