Chopin - Nocturne Opus 9 No1 (Glenn Morrison playing on a Steinway D Grand)

Esta obra pertenece al segundo movimiento para piano n21 de Mozart,sin embargo ,Casi un siglo más tarde, Elvira Madigan (1867-1889), joven acróbata danesa, estando de gira en Suecia, conoce al conde Sixten Sparre, oficial de la armada sueca, y se enamoran. Es un amor complicado, imposible para la época, ella es una artista y él un oficial casado y con dos hijos. Tras tres años escondiendo su amor huyen a Dinamarca, pero sólo dos semanas después se quedan sin recursos y no ven otra salida que la muerte. Se les encontró muertos en el claro de un bosque; tras almorzar Sixten sacó su arma reglamentaria y mató a Elvira, luego se suicidó. 
En 1967 se rodó una película sobre esta historia:  Elvira Madigan,  y se utilizó
el segundo movimiento del concierto nº 21 de Mozart como banda sonora; desde entonces la melodía es  conocida con el nombre de Elvira Madigan.

First Loves is a collection of quintessential violin masterpieces which first inspired me to be a violinist. Includes showpieces by Rachmaninoff, Sarasate, Wieniawski, and more, plus “Swan Remix,” my own arrangement of themes from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake.
As a kid, I was surrounded by classical, pop, rock, jazz, film and contemporary concert music – finding a balance of old and new music is still very important to me. Many of the works on First Loves are the ones that drew me in as a child – Rachmaninoff, Sarasate, and Wieniawski, arrangements by Heifetz, and Kreisler – and remain profoundly relevant today. I’ve also included “Swan Remix,” my own arrangement of themes from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, which I made after my work on-camera and on the soundtrack of the film Black Swan. Each track is dedicated to someone who inspired me or made it possible for me to be the person and the artist that I am today. My hope is that First Loves will inspire others, young and old, to fall in love with the violin as I did.
