"Floating state within various ambient atmospheres. From celestial surroundings to earthly airs. This journey comprises a whole, a time span that aims to describe an abstract landscape, without a specific roadmap yet with meaning. From an empty (balmat in catalan) space of time, a sketch of textures and infinite sensations has been outlined. Bon appetit."

Balmat (@balmat_cat) is a new label with a cloudy outline.
Jointly shepherded by Albert Salinas (@wooky) and Philip Sherburne (@psherburne), two friends living in Cardedeu, Catalonia, and on the Balearic island of Menorca, Balmat grew out of Lapsus Radio, a weekly show on Spain’s Radio 3 (https://www.rtve.es/play/audios/lapsus). Balmat’s mission is simple: to foster new ideas, expand upon personal obsessions, and put enveloping sounds out into the world.
“Balmat” means “empty” or “void” in Catalan. But quite apart from any negative connotations, we prefer to think of it in terms of possibility: a space waiting to be filled.

Animix Forty One presented by Austin, Texas based DJ/ Producer Gi Gi ( @keptmale ) with a beautiful trip. The artist focuses on deep and contemplative listening in this xtra long mix.  

In their own words, Gi Gi writes, "the idea for these mixes is to be a collection of longer-form tracks (7+ min) that demand (imo) to be heard front to back, producing a patient wander of a listen, and to serve as a greatest hits of sorts of songs that are especially personal/special to me-- as opposed to just an attempt to show off the deepest digs i've stumbled on (a thought pattern i think i and many other selectors can get caught up in at times..)."

Love the idea behind this mix, and it's the perfect extended listen for a sunny or rainy day wherever you are.

For the 70th entry of the Honcho Podcast Series, we welcome LA-native @jake-muir. Fascinated by musical intimacy, Muir centers his work around the use of 'found sound', including field recordings, vinyl loops, and shortwave radio clips. These audio fragments are manipulated and welded together to further distance them from their original context. We thought a mix of soft, atmospheric tones would be a meditative way to begin the new year.

Honcho Podcast Series 70: Jake Muir

The first edition of the Fast Forward Audio Series for this decade, we present to you a special collaborative effort between Viscerale and Adam Askov of Funeral Future, they named the mix "Life is not a Beach". It came about as the result of a close friendship that was formed a year ago.
The tracks featured in the mix were all fixtures at the local club Tuben back in the early ‘00s and have been superbly mixed by Viscerale. It’s a rare glimpse into a sound that preceded our own contributions to the Copenhagen techno.

Our pick up here is Krakow’s Chino who shows us how to balance perfectly between straightforward urgency and mystic playfulness. His acidic Forbidden Voices sports just the right amount of chaos to make you go crazy on the dancefloor.

He pursues making music by turning rough, industrial, non-musical noisy sounds into silky and sophisticated moods.
He tries to express the emotions of today through refining all the noises and mechanical sounds surrounding us, the modern people.
He creates deep, dark but warm texture of ambient space and put experimental and industrial sounds to express his deepest pain and emotions.
He tries to find new sounds and new combinations of sounds.

He released two albums from his own label, Artscope and is new albums are about to release from Secuencias Temporalis and Diffuse Reality in this year.

@Amamelia is the musical project of Amelia Berry, a musician and songwriter currently based in Auckland.

Amamelia's music combines breaks normally found in Jungle & Drum & Bass with a sugary synthetic pop sensibility.

Outside of Amamelia, Amelia can be found creating ambient soundscapes in caves as Old Chips, playing in queerbo pop-punk band Babyteeth and performing as one half of synth pop duo Fimo. In the past she's been the mastermind behind the romantic jangle of Polyester (fka as Kip McGrath), and one third of queer DJ trio PWB. She is currently host of 95bFM's illustrious chart show, the 95bFM Top 10
