About Kysuné...
Hailing from the humid lands of KZN, Kysuné has spent the last few years in Jozi enraptured by the local DNB scene. 

You have probably seen him, Don, many a hat, like a professional B-boy, talented event photographer, and that one guy on Border Security, but most importantly, he is one of the friendliest and hardest pushing DJ/Producers in the scene. 

With his songs released on labels such as Dialect Audio, DWNSMPL Records, and Rubricate Records, it's clear to see his love for forward-thinking music and community sets him and his music apart from the rest.

Cocaine Sessions #41 (16/11/2025) - Kysuné

The Queen of Croaks blesses us with one of her iconic edit mixes!

Where do we start, this mix is the definition of a journey. Zaba carefully curates hers sounds to create an audio novella soundscape exploring emotions and provoking thought to truly make you feel everything. If you're not familiar with Zaba's edits, our advice to you is to go in open minded! A lot of her sampling is subtle - so make sure to sit down with your headphones on and enjoy the journey of her English teacher-inspired style of creating.

Zaba is a multi-genre DJ from Oxford. As well as her unique edits/sampling series of storytelling mixes,  she is also the founder of the grassroots collectives Croakheads and Croakheads North. She is an outspoken activist for grassroots venues and has supported DJs in the scene such as Jam Thieves and Kara, as well as being upcoming support for Ed Solo and Deekline.

Zaba is always pushing herself to new creative boundaries/ideas. Her mixes are often political or literature-based in nature and she has gifted us a VIP special edition of her first ever Edits mix that she created. The original mix was created using hot cue layering of live samples and manual computer mouse-trimming on DDJ-200s and Rekordbox 6 - a feat she is ludicrously proud of; the limits of her tools never stopped her art. And for her year anniversary of her Zaba Edits projects, she chooses to recreate her mix of "1984" by George Orwell. 

Expect political activism, connection to art and several film samples as you navigate your way through the dystopic superstate of Oceania.

This is my entry for the DJ Competition to win a set at the Four Corners Music event taking place at the Crypt in Hastings on 19th of December 2025

I had great fun crafting this mix! The brief gave plenty of scope to move between harder and more soulful sounds at different stages in the journey, which is something I have always enjoyed doing in my sets. 

I came second in the last two DJ competitions that have entered (Intrigue, Mountain Bass) so fingers crossed third time lucky!

Thank you to Melinki for this opportunity, to Ben Soundscape and Tom Bassi for the unreleased material, to Riya for always inspiring me to be a better DJ and to my wife Becky for undying support and for believing in me.
