On our third-year anniversary, we are stoked to launch ‘Yellow Island Various Artists 2021’. The compilation brings new faces to the label and features artists from different countries around the world, allowing each artist to express their own essence.

This V/A showcases experimental sounds, with 20 tracks that flow through the genres of house, lo-fi, electro, IDM, breaks and jungle.

We had the pleasure to have Gabriel Massan design the cover artwork for the album.

Co-Select Presents 016: MMMC

After a long hiatus, the Co-Select Presents series returns with the first mix of 2022. Get hyped for Ryo Kurashina, a DJ who has been around London for the past couple of years and is a very close friend of ours. In this mix he brings through a dark energy that gives reminders of the likes of Lee Gamble or Andy Stott, filled with rhythms and ethereal sounds, a left-of-centre hypnotic dystopia.

Ryo is one of the core members of the SODAA collective and helps coordinate the Radio team who have successfully run takeovers at Netil Radio and Boat Live. Alongside his work with SODAA, Ryo holds residencies at 1020 Radio and Loose FM with shows on alternating months.

U Have To Understand

Yushh (@yushh) is a Bristol based DJ and producer with residencies on Noods and 1020 radio, whilst appearing on an increasing number of line ups within the city and further afield. Her sets blend dark, atmospheric broken techno and electro with a heavy UK influence to her sound. The mix she did for us a wonderful blend of syncopated beats, atmospheric swirls and bleeps all mixed together with a superb flow. 

She has just started her own label Pressure Dome (@pressuredome), the first release featuring tracks from a selection of upcoming Bristol producers, including a track from herself. She is also involved in promoting the club night Eminent (@eminentuk).

Yak returns to 3024 for a widely varied EP of his signature percussive flavors. Kicking off the EP is the neo UKG flex of "Dire Hit", with its frantic drum programming and hypnotic themes. "Esper" is Yak in a 165bpm workout, and do not underestimate the spacey beauty of "Knothole", reminiscent of some of the 90s best Warp IDM. Tip!

Next up in the Co-Select Presents series is @d-joyce, bringing us a bass-heavy mix blending breaks, electro, grime, jungle and footwork.
D-Joyce is from Morocco and moved to Istanbul in 2018, where he became involved in the local bass music scene. He hosts weekly radio show OH YEAH alongside Co-select’s Emmy Bacharach on the Istanbul-based station Radyo Modyan.

This months Resolution radio guest is producer and DJ hmurd, 2 hours of slowed left-field electronica, experimental, synth and EBM . He'll be playing tracks from FAUZIA, Athlete Whippet as well as exclusives from himself and the rest of the Resolution Crew.

VAMP Sonic's founder @syddviscose contributes to our series with an hour of mystical rhythms blending clumsy dance with broken pop.

Sydd Viscose’s work centres on campaigning for better equality in the music industry. Alongside spotlighting LGBTQIA+, non-binary and womxn artists working in experimental sound and music with her platform VAMP sonic, she has been booking acts and curating lineups around Scotland and hosting regular radio shows on Threads and Bristol's Noods.
