Turns down the heat on the original recipe, sliced like a plate of carrots, topped with organic piano garnish, a dash of jalapeño reverb sauce and served in a steaming broth of delay-filed wontons. Bon appétit! 

I thought it would be interesting to slow the track down for a behind-the-beat vibe, cutting up the bass and creating drum racks from Jaron's stems. I liked the sound of the raspy resonant bassline in Stem 7, so I pitch-mapped it and made the new trumpety lead line. Please enjoy!!

‘Digital rainbows’ was a literal description of a rare morning rainbow on a beach in a tropical place, surrounded by friends and beautiful sonic landscapes, both of which translated into a very nice morning light. We watched the dawn chorus over the forest from a hotel balcony, and the sunrise in the jungle canopy with swallows swooping around catching insects for breakfast. Cobe-Cobe tunes into Shakti frequencies for this blend of organic house and downtempo music, inspired by the wild feel of the Shakticast series: world traditions combining with a heavy groove and plenty of percussion. The journey begins in nature, vocal chants and ancestral instruments, drawing the focus to the centre, then expands outwards as rhythmic elements build and progressive components are layered on.

ABOUT THE ARTIST -
Cobe-Cobe is a producer, DJ and musician on labels Cosmic Awakenings, Kośa Musica, Tibetania Records, LiLDream and Camel VIP. An acoustic remedy of desert, jungle and metropolis feels, always underpinned by a deep percussive groove, “Cobe-Cobe” [ko-be ko-be] a universal sound under different names.

Originally from the UK, his musical beginnings came when a childhood mentor taught him to improvise at the piano, then Celtic folk sessions, classical and jazz harmonies from Mingus to Stravinsky, tinkering with the original Cubase VST, establishing himself as a double bassist on his local scene, eventually led to studying composition at a UK music college.

Through this, he became captivated by the two sides of music - the hypnotic beat / the ethereal melody, the mind / the heart, harmony / groove, the voice / the kick, celestial beings / earthly roots. Mesmerised by the experience of making others dance, he started to experiment with combining with what he saw as the two sides of music.

Learning vinyl, his first UK gigs were for Hit & Run. Electronic production skills developed, tastes refined, and sounds were collected wherever he roamed, from Colombia to Tulum, London to Amsterdam, to starting the DJ collective Catlocarpio in Cambodia, and recording traditional music in the Tibetan highlands.

This mix was inspired by discovering a new sound in the mighty talents of Or:la @orla_cd. Her track UK Lonely struck a chord and sent me off crate-digging on Bandcamp for electronica, winding-in some Indian vocals from MD Pallavi produced by Andi Otto, and trying out mixing faster BPM drumnbass beats 145bpm+ with half-time downtempo tracks (Call Super working well for this blend of speeds+transitions). I made the final track selection sitting in a weekend cafe by the Mekong River in Phnom Penh, then went home and mixed it live on XDJ RX1 :) Thanks for your comments and enjoy!!!
