Biography:
Born in Montreal, Canada, Nitrous (also known as D-Joos) grew up listening to a wide range of different music (Hip-Hop, Metal, Grunge, Punk, Rock). He was first exposed to electronic music in the early 90's through the now infamous Goldie track, Inner City Life. This is where everything changed for him, slowly starting buying vinyls and first spinning House and Techno music. He later made the big switch and started spinning exclusively Drum and Bass. In 1999, he created his own production company called “Kracked Knuckles”, doing small and intimate dnb events in Montreal. He later founded the “In Da Jungle” production company with Dj`s Galaksy and Axionfigga, that created Havoc in the Montreal dnb scene for over 5 years. Nitrous is now well established in the Montreal dnb scene, havin` played alongside many international dj’ss by the likes of Concord Dawn (NZ), Kemal (UK), Klute (UK), John B (UK), Panacea (Germany), just to name a few.

Cobe-Cobe is a producer, DJ and musician on labels Cosmic Awakenings, Kośa Musica, Tibetania Records, LiLDream and Camel VIP. An acoustic remedy of desert, jungle and metropolis feels, always underpinned by a deep percussive groove, “Cobe-Cobe” [ko-be ko-be] a universal sound under different names.

Originally from the UK, his musical beginnings came when a childhood mentor taught him to improvise at the piano, then Celtic folk sessions, classical and jazz harmonies from Mingus to Stravinsky, tinkering with the original Cubase VST, establishing himself as a double bassist on his local scene, eventually led to studying composition at a UK music college.

Through this, he became captivated by the two sides of music - the hypnotic beat / the ethereal melody, the mind / the heart, harmony / groove, the voice / the kick, celestial beings / earthly roots. Mesmerised by the experience of making others dance, he started to experiment with combining with what he saw as the two sides of music.

Learning vinyl, his first UK gigs were for Hit & Run. Electronic production skills developed, tastes refined, and sounds were collected wherever he roamed, from Colombia to Tulum, London to Amsterdam, to starting the DJ collective Catlocarpio in Cambodia, and recording traditional music in the Tibetan highlands. 

A new sonic chapter opened at the Polygon stage of Wonderfruit in 2018 in Thailand, initiating the Cobe-Cobe organic house project. This sound system opened-up a new sonic perspective and he was pulled into chasing this sound. After several years of careful work in the studio finishing dozens of unreleased tracks, multi-directional explorations and much cross-pollination, Cobe-Cobe began releasing music, moving towards a consistent artistic vision of dance-floor readiness, drawing from a more selective tonal palette and live acoustic instruments.

In 2024, Cobe-Cobe starts to release music in earnest, aiming for authenticity and professionalism in manifesting a musical vision.
