Forming in early eighties from the songwriting of Brent Alan Beck, The Missing Link, an ep of four songs were quickly recorded & produced by Columbia Artist Walter Egan. These are the first four songs available from studio sessions at the Studio Suite, in Glendale, CA. "Finding a proper vocalist became the bane of our existence." These songs received airplay from KROQ, & KXLU. No other songs have been updated, but photo's of latter sessions can be found on Walter Egan's "Lost Album." There are consequent live sessions but no other recordings for radio airplay as yet.

My songwriting* is comprised from figurative brushstrokes, so to speak.  I learned once that it's the music in this day that hold's people's attention.  

 

 

To me, the music in songwriting is similar to a fantastic meal.  And the lyrics are as, salt, pepper, & spice that we add to a fantastic meal in making it just right.

 

 

The chords I utilized when I began writing songs were a bit complicated for me to actually perform in my early years.  So my writing ability was ahead of my performing ability.  I could hear all the music in my head though, or had it transcribed onto the page, and I knew how it would sound. 

 

 

Through much effort, I formed a band in my early twenties & some of the rehearsals were recorded on portable cassette device.  Electric guitars & cymbal crashes were very forgiving if I missed fingering chords from failing to rehearse as often as I'd have liked.  

 

 

A few years after that, & being unable to keep these musician's together I ventured back to clubs I used to frequent.  They were being replaced by open mic nights at sandwich/coffee cafe's or bars too, here & there?  

 

 

I adapted my electric guitar songs to my Ovation acoustic guitar, & it was a bit frustrating for some there to listen to.  No cymbal crashes.  As before though, I had it all in my head or on the page.  I also knew, what the rehearsal's I had just came from with my band, sounded like.  My band then did not return though, so I stayed performing in various coffee shop venues around Los Angeles on my acoustic guitar during the late eighties.  

 

 

At that time, I had started writing songs for one guitar & vocal, instead of the multiple instruments I had written for previous.  Turns out that acoustic guitar act's like Tracey Chapman & Jewel, would emerge from such venues.  Some thought I was just learning on acoustic guitar & that band tapes which later emerged were recorded, after, I had been performing at coffee shops? None such.  

 

 

So the recording's left, not being invested in then by anyone or funded from a record company are a bit distant for quality sake, but very appealing.

*An obvious technical note: The songs heard herein ARE as notated above taken from cassette.  Over the years tape elongates, so the tempo may seem slow in parts.  If I can I will remix the songs heard above here on Reverbnation, so that speed & pitch corrections are made.
