Another "first-ever" for CocoB. This first is about 14yo Coco Li Benedetti recording for the first time in her native tongue, Mandarin Chinese. Coco was born in Shanghai, and lived the early years of her life there, before her parents moved the family to Los Angeles when Coco was 7yo. Back at Studio 770, in Los Angeles, CocoB is again joined with her bandmates; Ron Kobayashi, on piano, Sam Montooth on bass, Isaac Sanchez on drums, and Troy Ambroff as sound engineer. Singing The Only One, CocoB shows off, not only her Chinese language chops, but her mandarin singing chops with the song sung in the style of Latin Montuno. This version of the song, and music, was arranged, again, in collaboration between CocoB and Mr. Kobayashi. (Latin Montuno is a two-bar ostinato using syncopated rhythms.)
