HOSTILES ON THE HILL" — A Bad Lip Reading of The Empire Strikes Back

New Mexico native, coco morier made her way to Los Angeles to via Berlin where she had birthed her raucous electro-trash pop girl duo Electrocute. coco has since collaborated and written with a diverse group of artists/producers ranging from Miike Snow, Wynter Gordon, Junkie XL and the legendary Tom Jones. Furthermore, coco has also written and performed on Britney Spears’ last three albums, giving the famous pop-tart extraordinaire some her coolest fan-favorite tracks including "How I Roll" and "Heaven on Earth". In 2010 she scored herself a spot as Charlotte Gainsbourg’s lead guitarist for during her first world tour.

Now coco morier debuts her solo EP, an infectious and playful five song collection exhibiting a cross pollination of dirty synthesized disco jams, sleek synth pop and lo-fi garage rock suffused with mesmerizing sugary melodies. Despite her unexpected and decidedly anti-mainstream influences, her tunes are inescapably catchy. Defying the boundaries of genre has been coco's unique strategy thus far, and it serves her well as she serves up the best of both worlds: sophisticated pop dressed up as indie music that actually doesn’t suck and occasionally uses a major chord.

Turbo overlord Tiga unleashes his hit single "Plush" on 12" vinyl. Featuring remixes by I:Cube and Jacques Lu Cont.

Tiga's latest hit single was co-produced by Matthew Dear, starting as a freeform jam session and ending as something that works equally well as an underground club anthem and literally everybody’s track of the year. It also features what Tiga is privately calling his greatest vocal performance to date.

As is the custom in contemporary dance music, Tiga handpicked and handpaid French Touch legend I:Cube and UK superproducer Jacques Lu Cont to create two remixes of the new track. I:Cube gets all French and handsy with the original, tweaking out an acid blackout soundtrack. Meanwhile, Lu Cont draws on his alleged stint as Madonna's choreographer to pump up the tempo for the biggest rooms you could possibly imagine.
 
“This song comes 100% from a universe 1000% my own. I don’t mind being thought of as ‘The Different Guy,’ so long as all the right people love me," says the Turbo Man-O-War. "And they do, because it’s their right to be right all night, a’ight?”

Coco Morier has been absorbing musical styles her whole life: Early influences of folk and country from her father led to teenage fantasies of Lower East Side punk and hip-hop, followed by the avant-garde electronic scene in Europe with her band Electrocute, a tour as Charlotte Gainsbourg’s lead guitarist, and ultimately success as a singer-songwriter and producer of pop music in L.A. She’s composed songs for Britney Spears (5 songs over 3 albums), Icona Pop, Demi Lovato, Ellie Goulding, Selena Gomez, Hayley Kiyoko to name a few. Coco’s compositions have been featured in film, television, and video games such as the Spongebob Squarepants Movie, Broad City, Grey’s Anatomy, Mistresses, Radio Shack, Verizon, Crayola, Victoria’s Secret, Clairol, Fifa, and The Sims.

Her debut solo LP “Dreamer” (June 2016) was met with rave reviews.
