Der Abend

The meanders of the Tiribí river look imposing and are beautifully covered by thick tropical vegetation.

It's waters were once so clean that people could swim in it; a tale impossible believe now by looking at its furious dark brownish water stream with white foam accumulating between the rocks.

When it rains it seems like the river would rebel itself against the damage done to it, growing its flow so much that it takes away the homes of the less privileged ones who settled near its banks. An unjust revenge, but as unjust as it was destroying it.

But what really makes the Tiribí so infamous are the lives it took from the ones who decided to jump into the void and throw themselves to its wrathful stream, never to be seen again and leaving behind a sense of never-ending mourning.

The Tiribí always hunts me in my dreams, with its menacing stream trying to take me. Looking at it from a cliff I admire its beauty but then I quickly back off to avoid its dreaded revenge.
