Carla Durisch unveils her debut EP ‘I Just Wanna Dance’ on Crosstown Rebels, with long-standing label favourite and close friend Seth Troxler on remix duties.

An exciting name who looks set for a breakout year in 2023, DJ/producer Carla Durisch is an artist whose passion and deeprooted understanding of electronic music led to her being marked as a talent to keep an eye on. An integral part of the Swiss electronic and club landscape through residencies at the likes of Nordstern (Basel), plus both Hive and Zukunft (Zurich), her recent explorations within the studio have seen her deep and groove-led style translate into her own productions. These explorations are on display for the very first time as she debuts on Damian Lazarus’ renowned Crosstown Rebels imprint, following appearances at Get Lost in Miami and Watergate Berlin, plus forthcoming Ibiza sets alongside the label boss this summer at Hï.

Led by the captivating words of Nanghiti and Carla’s own vocals ‘I Just Wanna Dance’ is a warping and colourful ride through rich synths, refined drums and bright stabs as it builds and descends across an engrossing near-seven-minute journey. Next, ‘Be The Thing is a stripped-back, hypnotic house effort as snaking percussion merges with sharp lead melodies and further vocal interjections.

Needing little introduction, Seth Troxler’s remix of the title cut is an example of the American at his best, fusing bubbling aciddipped bass patterns with skittering percussion and surging synth lines for a trippy, late-night take. To close, ‘4AM’ picks up those early hours sonics as crisp claps, echoed vox snippets and dubby grooves take a hold.

@RandomIsland is a Swedish based Techno label that keeps grounded with a small roster of artists and featured the likes of Nihad Tule to label boss @Inter_Gritty.

Due for release in the very near future is their next vinyl only release RI№12 from a firm favourite and previous guest here at DT, @Miss_Sunshine from Croatia.

The original track we chose for this DT:Premiere is called “Anti Hero” and its funky driving sound is made for the dancefloor. Hypnotic in nature, it takes a slightly darker twist with eerie drones and more metallic samples towards the half way point as the beat rarely comes up for air and ploughs forward. Quality stuff.

One of the UK’s most exciting and versatile young talents, Route 94, is the next to make his mark on Crosstown Rebels with Mind, Body & Soul featuring a Body Rhythm Soul Version from NYC’s Joaquin Joe Claussell. Cohort and Leftroom boss Matt Tolfrey is also onboard, collaborating on second track Habitual.

The title track sets the tone of the release by heading straight into the late night hours with varied drum workouts and inspiriting keys that compliment the meaningful vocal. While Habitual, produced alongside fellow Londoner Matt Tolfrey who has been a mainstay DJ, producer and label owner in the underground house and techno scene for over a decade, is electric and sensual with an enticing bassline.

Damian Lazarus has enlisted influential NYC head and Ibadan label co-founder, Joaquin Joe Claussell to deliver a stunning Body Rhythm Soul Version, remixed in reference to his infamous Body & Soul Sunday parties. Here he delivers delectable keys and soothing brass tones as the serve of the day.

Route 94 aka Rowan Jones shot to fame, hitting No.1 in the UK charts with My Love featuring Jess Glynne. Keeping things largely underground, he followed with releases and remixes on Leftroom, Defected and Hot Creations. Overwhelming success ensued as he performed at the likes of fabric, Sub Club, Space, Ushuaia, DC10 and many more. With an abundance of new material about to drop and a packed calendar of gigs already booked in for the coming year, this is only the start for the talented artist.

Premiere: Dokta '2nd Nature' (Seth Troxler & Bas Ibellini Remix)

There should be a new name for Norwegian balearica as they are hitting the sweet spot every time. This EP is no exception, with its retro analogue sounds touching on Ibiza, Italo, soundtrack and all the good stuff.

The Telemark Express is a collaboration between Norway's Kjetil Lagesen aka Kellini, an up and coming disco producer and familiar name on the Nordic scene, Jarle Bråthen. Periodically they both have 'writer's block' but when they hit the studio together, these obstacles fade away and the magic emerges.

Epic Proportions starts things off at a pace with its bubbling arpeggiator, congas and 4/4 beat that build, before the epic synths takes things to space disco heaven.

Inflatable Ego goes full balearic with its reggae lilt, stringless flanged bass and selection of analogue synths. Close your eyes and it could be 1986 in Amnesia as Alfredo drops that dubbed out Demis Roussos B-side everyone's been banging on about.

The title track goes deep with a nagging synth and swells that lay underneath Vangelis like synths as they pick out their melody.

Bright Future keeps the squelchy bass with uplifting chords to send the sun down in to the Med as you move on to your third Long Island Ice Tea.

Cocoon Recordings has been founded in the year 2000 as a part of the Cocoon Music Event GmbH. Sven Väth has initiated Cocoon Recordings in order to complete the Cocoon platform as a supporting tool for young artists in Electronic Music. The label philosophy is as simple as demanding: helping young producers and DJs to release their music without depending on Major Label structures. The releases can mainly be assigned to the genres Techno and House.

Cocoon Recordings as a label and Sven Väth as an artist stand for the use of vinyl as sound carrier, also in the future. Admittedly, the Digital Division of Cocoon Recordings has also been set up in 2008 and the numbers of downloads are indeed enjoyable. However, the label's focus is on vinyl, now and in the future. In order to complete the range of services that Cocoon Recordings offers, the publishing company Cocoon Publishing was founded in 2010.
