Fast&Furious

The name Paul Ritch echoes around the world. His productions and live sets, charged with pure adrenaline and characterised by his powerful, harmonic, and deep techno, have made him the holder of  a unique mark of sounds in which his passion and power transmit numerous memorable music moments. In 2009 Paul brought to life his own label Quartz Rec, the label puts forward minimalistic sounds that are blunt, sharp and energetic. The label is a testament of the ability Paul has to achieve perfection. With his first release, "Split EP Part 1" (Paul Ritch, 2008), he held the top 2 position in sales on Beatport, reaching over 11.000 downloads. Therefore, in 2009 Paul Ritch was nominated by Beatport as a candidate for best techno artist. Nowadays, the Paris resident Paul Ritch is considered to be one of the most highly regarded artists and producers in the global electronic scene. 

Paul is one of the protagonists of this year's Cocoon Ibiza residency "Cocoon Heroes". He is playing at the Grand Closing Party as well as in Formentera, where Cocoon holds another smaller residency at the Tipic club.

His live set on the Green Floor of Cocoon's Green & Blue Open Air – one of the most prestigious electronic dance music open air events in Germany – is recorded and released on a single CD, in contrast to the previous Green & Blue CDs, which were double CDs with DJ mixes. As this is the 10th anniversary of the event and, at the same time, the last one, Paul's live set can be called historical already!

Like hardly any other ambassador of modern Rhein Main House music, Christian Burkhardt has experienced a true rocket-like takeoff in the last year. Burkhardt's Cocoon debut EP "Stopover Goa" has, after one year, still a place of honour in many DJ's record cases. Also his legendary live set in the pouring rain at last year's Green & Blue may belong to the lasting memories of a life dedicated to electronic music. The Heidelberg-born producer has already worked for La Peña, Raum…Musik and Oslo, and his collaborations with Einzelkind and Sascha Dive became a talking point, too. With his second EP for Cocoon, he again sets new standards. There's nobody around who is able to alienate vocals from the collective memory of Afro-American culture into a hallucinogenic cocktail without harmful side effects in such a way than Burkhardt is. Nevertheless, and despite the massive, forward-pushing bass drum and hand claps, he never loses the focus of his Soul. So – open your mind, we wish you lots of fun with "Heart and Mind" and the considerably acid-like "Waffles", while the tropical-hypnotic seagull atmosphere of "Twentysecondcenturydrama" already whets the appetite for the upcoming club summer season of 2012.

Jamie Jones & Lee Foss’ Hot Creations offshoot, Hot Waves, releases its third stupendous compilation this September. The 14-track compilation is released digitally on the 24th September. There’s a double-pack 12” featuring six killer tracks from the compilation released on the 10th September.

Set up as a platform for burgeoning producers the Hot Waves compilations have gone from strength to strength. Giving a voice to many new producers as well as stalwarts from the Hot Creations stable, this third Volume is probably the strongest yet.

This volume features previous artists from Hot Waves compilations such as Alexis Raphael with his call to arms: ‘Warhorn’, French producer Julien Sandre teams up with Italian Dast for the brilliant ‘Wanna Be’, another driving house monster perfect for Hot Waves! Wildkats, are back teaming up with TBoy to produce the acid monster ‘Denied’, also Dirty Channels make their second Hot Waves appearance with the excellent ‘So Special’.

Hot Creations artists Lee Foss, Miguel Campbell, Robert James, Richy Ahmed, Mark Jenkyns, Digitaria, Funky Fat and wAFF also make appearances alongside new artist’s such as Lee Webster’s hypnotic soul- infused slice of dirty house, ‘Spend All Her Money’, new Italian artist Bartolemeo delivers the psychedelic slow breaks of ‘Jean Is Not Death’. Tom Ruijg’s drum-tastic ‘Space Frase’ and 80’s inspired ‘Zohra’ by Guilhem and Remi Mazet.

Robert James deliver another battle weapon in the James arsenal with fantastic ‘Body Movement’ whilst wAFF delivers the sublime ‘Sunshine’, a fantastic slice of hedonistic house. Miguel Campbell and Richy Ahmed come together to make the electro-inspired ‘Tell Me Why’, whilst Lee Foss delivers another corker in the form of ‘Life On Mars’. Mark Jenkyns goes from strength to strength from his latest Hot Creations release with ‘Moola’. Finally there is an exclusive remix by Funky Fat of Digitaria’s huge ‘Crazy Life’! A veritable feast of beats and basslines!

Cocoon Recordings has been founded in the year 2000 as a part of the Cocoon Music Event GmbH. Sven Väth has initiated Cocoon Recordings in order to complete the Cocoon platform as a supporting tool for young artists in Electronic Music. The label philosophy is as simple as demanding: helping young producers and DJs to release their music without depending on Major Label structures. The releases can mainly be assigned to the genres Techno and House.

Cocoon Recordings as a label and Sven Väth as an artist stand for the use of vinyl as sound carrier, also in the future. Admittedly, the Digital Division of Cocoon Recordings has also been set up in 2008 and the numbers of downloads are indeed enjoyable. However, the label's focus is on vinyl, now and in the future. In order to complete the range of services that Cocoon Recordings offers, the publishing company Cocoon Publishing was founded in 2010.
