It has not gone by unnoticed that, over the last five years, the Rhein Main area has become a decisive nucleus for innovative, powerful and modern House music. One who is not entirely innocent of this is Mannheim-based DJ, producer and label head Nick Curly, whose imprints 8 Bit and Cécille Records are guarantees for standard-setting electronic dance music. Since his Cocoon debut "Pujante" (2009) and especially since the Party Animals Cocoon Ibiza Summer Mix 2010, he is a frequent and welcome guest at Cocoon's. The three tracks of his "Sun City" EP are an impressive proof for Curly's maturation process: with a clear orientation towards the needs of the dancefloor, he exploits the sound potential of compressed House textures. The title track captivates the listener with a subsonically perfected bass line and a discoid Hi-NRG modulation, forming a deluxe prime time anthem, whereas the dense and dub-referring deepness of "Green Baize" is enchanting just everybody, and, for the final, "Libero"'s rich percussive rhythms are strongly stressing the pelvic thrust. So, virtually nothing can go wrong with Nick's World Tour between Ibiza, Moscow, Manchester and NYC!

After the very successful foray into split EPs, Luv Shack Records continues to explore this concept with LUV013. The EP sees upcoming duo Space Echo make a return after their smash hit "Soul Power", while the B-side is conducted by Wahlberliner ROTCIV.

"Come Back Home", the opening track by Space Echo, is a slowly building but effortlessly captivating piece of hypnotic house music with a raw funk attitude. The gently evolving synth line and the strong vocal hook are the spine of this anthemic track.

The seemingly laid back "Hangover" just oozes b-movie sleaze and might be Space Echos little hommage to 60's lounge music, with an array of distorted guitars and soft pads coming to good use. That is until the synth theme kicks in mid-track and turns the piece into a late night weapon.

The vastly experienced Davina Moss has toured the globe, wowed crowds in their thousands, got the listening stats to be envied and admired, and landed on Jamie Jones Hot Creations label with last year's Jungle Chic EP (praised in Mixmag and Clash) after time spent on Pacha Recordings and Upon You. Ibiza-based and host to the island's Family Affairs night and radio show - so she knows exactly what makes the Balearics tick - she blesses Clarisse with a two-part partier alongside man of multiple dancefloor projects, the Frenchman Stephane Dureisseix, which moves into the night before coming out the other side with shades on.

Correo is stabilizing deep and funky house with a stodgy low end chug. Primed for patient clubbing come dusk, it goes about its business until you realise it has nudged you slap bang in the middle of the dancefloors rush hour. As it embarks upon a disco rhythm on the breakdown, just as you're waiting for a glitterball lightning bolt, the duo tuck in a pretty devious tech bass loop on the low, transforming the atmosphere and bound to cause a further rush to the booth.

Radiating good vibes and showing Moss and DX as astutely economical operators for the second time, Do What You Want is a flipside marked by get up and go, a borderline New Jack bass straightforwardly reaching absolute stepper status, and vocal snatches providing a neat garnish, kind of flirting with you without giving too much away. Again, the way it sets itself up from the start and just rolls comfortably until everyone has caught the flavour, turns casual taps of the toe into a full on, feelgood body swerve waiting for the sun to come out.

Cocoon Recordings has been founded in the year 2000 as a part of the Cocoon Music Event GmbH. Sven Väth has initiated Cocoon Recordings in order to complete the Cocoon platform as a supporting tool for young artists in Electronic Music. The label philosophy is as simple as demanding: helping young producers and DJs to release their music without depending on Major Label structures. The releases can mainly be assigned to the genres Techno and House.

Cocoon Recordings as a label and Sven Väth as an artist stand for the use of vinyl as sound carrier, also in the future. Admittedly, the Digital Division of Cocoon Recordings has also been set up in 2008 and the numbers of downloads are indeed enjoyable. However, the label's focus is on vinyl, now and in the future. In order to complete the range of services that Cocoon Recordings offers, the publishing company Cocoon Publishing was founded in 2010.
