Info: I am happy to present our first tape release by The Jaffa Kid as part of the brand new Digital Artefacts series.

The series is an ode to the sound of the 90s, from Electro, IDM and Jungle to further different experimental stuff and sounds. The choice of tape as format seemed fitting for the aesthetic of the series.

The first EP comes from UK based The Jaffa Kid (previously on 030303, Dischi Nottetempo, Gated Recordings and more) and is a solid mixture of Electro, Techno and beyond.

Pleasure Planet's kaleidoscopic debut album has been a long time coming, but good things come to those who wait. Developed over years of late-night studio improvisations, 'Pleasure Planet' is an affectionate and colorful patchwork of the New York City-based trio's knotted influences that's suspended between the rave and the chill-out room, weaving glistening pads and chunky basslines into vocal earworms and warm, saturated rhythmic cycles. Bandmates Andrew Potter, Kim Ann Foxman and Brian Hersey enter into a lysergic dialog with their discrete personal musical histories, drawing inspiration from vintage EBM, ambient music and heady early '90s West Coast rave sounds and launching these classic elements into a transcendent new sonic universe.

For the 94th edition we have Sunburn who is a product of digging through record stores and has proven himself by shaping techno with both attention and risk, navigating the crossroads of old school and dub techno, and blending tribal rhythms with mental minimalism.

At the helm of the label DrumSurface, forming half of the project Classic Blue, and a resident of the North American label PHTM, driven by Tommy Lewis, Sunburn has consistently delivered rich productions that both reflect and advance the classic sound. A personal tip from us would be to check out his self-releases on Bandcamp. 

With this mix, he showcases a beautiful approach to mixing and rhythm, resonating with the golden hours of DJing.

"Alfonsvs bring their 2016 to an end with a beautiful 3 track EP, on their own new imprint: Fluxus."

"44th Romance", is the track that gives the EP its name. It's a dark breakbeat cut, with a subtle use of the amen break sample, a strong bassline, and bass and techno music influences. The lyrics in the middle are related to the inevitability of the arrival of a new loved one.

"Us" was done in conjunction with the dutch singer Eline van der Does, from a very well known touring dutch Jazz Band. The collaboration started with the singer's curiosity around the world of techno and house, when one of the Alfonsvs guys opened it a bit to her, and despite her complete lack of any techno knowledge, both came to realize the possibilities they had for a collaboration. This is not the last piece of work to come out between the two artists.

"There Was You" was a track that since the early beginning had the support of the italian duo Hiver. This is a dub techno track that opens itself up with the use of different reverbs, spacial delays and the use of some acoustic percussion, giving the EP's overall feeling a more dance floor focus.
