When Mirjam sung on my playback 'On my knees' -->  "https://soundcloud.com/mirjam-keijnemans/rock-flexible-and-mirjam-keijnemans" we agreed that it could be a nice idea to start with an collab-song together. Mirjam sent me a guitar track and one vocal track. Soon I laid out the background vocals by shifting parts of the original vocals. The song has no BPM because Mirjam played it free flowin' without click track. A job for a real drummer, so I asked Peter (the drummer of https://soundcloud.com/oesj) and he was so kind to play his excellent drums for this track. Then I added bass guitar and some guitar adlibs here and there ... that's it. We hope you like it and enjoy listening so much as we do :)
I have to say it was an absolute pleasure to work with Mirjam on this track and I thank her for the draft track and her patience. I also thank Peter for accepting and mastering the challenge! Thank you all, I am blessed!

An amazing new take on the original collaboration with Colin Crighton. Spent a couple of days on this revisit so it's had numerous changes - a complete overhaul!! Definitely listen to it with headphones - a lot there within the deep!

A fun collaboration with him back in 2013 while putting together our album 'Explorations'(this was the 3rd track on that album) & to revisit it again here in 2020... the sound is a bit better now & Colin's parts were adjusted in accordance to the new mix - we hope you enjoy listening!

This is the second song that DeeP. and I began together. I really enjoy working on these darker tracks with DeeP. and exploring themes of depression, anxiety, fear, and shame. This song was inspired by a person that I was working with who would call me evil whenever he saw me. Even with me being as positive and non judgmental as possible, I am sure I was seen as another person telling him what to do and making decisions for him based on judgmental criteria. I think these are feelings many of us have had and it can be easy to relate to, though difficult to confront. 

I am grateful that we always have an opportunity to grow, learn, reflect, and evolve as individuals, communities, nations, and as a species. May we all be better to each other. 

Giant thanks to DeeP. for working with me on this track. And huge thanks to Nick for joining me on this first track together. I have long enjoyed and felt inspired by Nick’s creative and experimental guitar work and musicianship. I am super glad to have his vibe on this track!

I had been really wanting to make new music with Calebass. I have been making a lot of songs that lean more heavily toward hip hop the last couple years and felt like heading back toward the direction of my earlier years on SoundCloud. Luckily Calebass was willing and ready and the music flowed easily and steadily. Jon did an amazing job adding an element of jazz with his bass and Janine really awakened the psychedelic spirit and Age of Aquarius with her vocals. It was extra bonus to have both Sinfields participate in this song making this a real SC family affair. Lyrically, I was inspired by the children’s book, Ox-Cart Man, which I love, and all the felt mouse toys I recently made for my cat at my daughter’s request.

When Mamoru sent me his beautiful unique interpretation of this great classic from Carole King, it was with great delight that I began working on it. It needed some piano, and so I asked the wonderful Mr Jamie Rhind, and he added some magic keys, the icing on the cake!

I wrote it in 6/8 to fit in with the spiralling gyre theme. It's like 3/4 (waltz time)but with less strong beats for your money and I just like Pop Goes The Weasel. Oh, and Joni Mitchell's six jet plane trails/guitar strings in 'Amelia' too!

This song is my attempt to process the wrenching incident that took place in my hometown on Memorial Day.  My hope is that real change will come from George Floyd’s murder though 2020 is seeming eerily similar to 1968.
