Brian Eno with Kevin Shields - Only Once Away My Son

This track grew out of experiments trying to replicate a certain stuttery sound from popular music in the early 1980s.  I used gated chords from a Jupiter-6 along with a triggered portamento sound from a Moog Source for the main melodic sounds.  There's also some PPG and Juno-60 thrown in there.  The bass line is my favorite bass machine, the Oberheim SEM.

We grew up listening to Swayzak albums "Snowboarding In Argentina", "Himawari", "Dirty Dancing" or their "Groovetechnology v1.3" compilation(couldn't afford an original pressing of "Bitstream - Monolith" back in those days) so when we had the opportunity to deliver a mix by this legendary name, we just couldn't refuse it. A song I wrote for Nora Perkowitz, part of the project "Music for the Fourth Trimester" from Mike Perkowitz (Nora's dad!).  This also happened to be the first recording I made in my Taylor Avenue studio.
