Next up in the Fast Forward Audio Series we present: Roma Ptashenko

From 2012 Roma has found his inspiration in the roots of rave culture — the 90s: Belgium with its accelerated-rough rhythms, melancholic trance and acid with its emotional edges, Britain and hard trance from Bonzai Records, as well as early releases on German Harthouse and rave revival from ТРИП label. 

His first DJ experiments took place accordingly: two old decks, CD disk records and endless mixing.

As a result, Roma's sets have become adjust compositions that belong to the dancefloor, but leave the space for real bangers. The big-bit track smoothly enters techno cage: Cari Lekebusch suddenly weaves with Nina Kravitz's sensual hits, and Prodigy remix drowns into progressive house of the duo Der Dritte Raum.

Over the past few years, his performances could be regularly seen both in the main Moscow techno-mecca Mutabor, and in St. Petersburg's Blank or the closed underground space of Raf25, in Tbilisi's Drama Bar and Yerevan's Poligraf.

Roma is a member of two iconic Moscow communities: the Volchok streetwear project, where he leads his series of podcasts and organizes parties. And the Popoff Kitchen music queer community. This year, the association was included in the list of the most influential projects that form youth culture.

This week we are happy to invite one of the most hard-working DJs in Ukraine’s electronic music scene, Nastya Muravoya made a name for herself in her hometown of Kyiv playing iconic parties such as Cxema, and overseas in other integral cities such as Berlin, and Krakow. As well as joining the line-ups for Unsound in Poland and Pohoda Festival in Slovakia last year, she’s made numerous appearances at Berghain. “Before I started playing, I just went to parties to dance. After a while I began to listen to music and in the future just look for tracks that I would dance all night long to. I found my sound very simply. If I like the track, I play it”.

Altruck is a resident of the Moscow promo team "CHERTA". He is responsible for the classic Berlin techno sound and curates the Hypnotic party series. You can hear Altruck in Moscow clubs RNDM, Mutabor and Propaganda.

Mix for PRGRPHS moves from a deep and dark sound that reflects the dark times, to a rhythmic tribal with shamanistic motifs.

The duo are among the most striking acts on Nina Kraviz's Трип label. 

The story of PTU began with experiments with second-hand synthesizers and bass guitars, driven by a burning need to make "something different." It could have ended with homemade CDs and local gigs alongside other amateur bands at local concerts in Kazan, Tatarstan, where the same musicians would often form new bands by swapping positions behind keyboards or drum machines, or maybe adding a guitarist. At one point, PTU was reconfigured to become psychodelic Acid Monkey's Temple or an electroclash band called Love-Fine or the ambient band Olympic Snow. For a couple of years, they released field recordings and ambient tracks on a DIY label called Kak?Tak ("How Come"), until most of the members grew up, moved to bigger cities and got "real jobs." 

That would have been the end of PTU, had two of its members, Alina Izolenta and Kamil Ea, not challenged themselves to grow out the bedroom mindset and get to the front of what they call "techno's stranger sector."
