Jem'mecia Perez, better known as Gritty or Gritty The Great was born on June 10, 1991 in Utica, NY. She was raised up in a musical family. Her Father, Puerto Rock who has a history of being a rapping recording artist and actor. Her Father signed his first major record deal with SONY in 1999, also was the principle actor in the most famous commercial in history "whassup", Budweiser. Her mother Tammy was a popular hip hop dancer in her local city along with her father Puerto Rock. The group was called Eunitricity. They toured all over upstate NY. The group was known for break dancing and popping. They had a lot of local success. Gritty tapped into her musical genes around the age of 12. She started out her rap career in a local rap group in her home town of Utica NY. The group went by the name LA FAMILIA. Gritty was the only female member of the group which immediately drew some serious attention her way. She was known for her slick bars, catchy flows, smooth tone, and creative punchlines. The group competed in all types of local showcases and dropped two classic mix-tapes "Round 1" and "Round 2". After a 3 year run with the group Gritty reached out to her father and decided to pursue her own solo career. Together the father and daughter duo released her 1st solo mix-tape which was titled My Sweet 16's. The project consisted of 16 bar verses over some of the most popular beats out at that time. Shorty after that she released her 1st independent EP titled "Married To The Game". To pay homage and show appreciation to her father she remixed his classic hit record called "Bang Out", (1999) Epic/Sony She titled her version of the record "Bang Out The Re-birth". Duplicating her fathers signature style she added her own twist to it making that the most talked about song. After her 11th grade year in high school the young spitter moved to Florida to complete her senior year of high school and continue to write and record music. She later released the street approved classic "RUN FOR COVER". She followed up with releasing a trilogy of mix-tapes which includes RFCI, RFCII and RFCIII. As of today she recently dropped her highly anticipated mix-tape run for cover 3 on DEC 9th 2015. Listeners are already calling it a classic Gritty has definitely proven to the world that's she's a very versatile rap artist with many different styles and great song writing skills. There's no doubt that she's ready to emerge into the industry and take the game by storm. She's set to release her first debut  album titled "HOMEMADE" sometime in this upcoming new year (2016)
