This tastefully curated selection traverses the electronic spectrum in style. Polygonia opens with supple and trippy minimal on 'Cheeky Seduction' and things build through dubby, stripped-back analogue grooves from HCL, typically bright, jacked-up, and synth-heavy sounds from Massimiliano Pagliara on 'Distant Memory' and retro-future disco-house from Benjamin Fröhlich. CYRK's 'Fade 2 Gay' is a slow-motion and moody dark disco chugger before Gunce Aci picks it up with some skyward arps and slap-funk drums on 'Whatever It Takes.'

Elsewhere Zombie Affair, aka Zombies in Miami & Mystery Affair, offer the body-popping electro-disco of 'Girl, You Got Me', Panooc's 'Pellucid' is a throwback and sensual vocal house cut and Lydia Eisenblätter brings all out piano house joy to 'What Is Love' before the closer from Mala Ika is another celebratory cut full of hands in the air synths and joyous drums.

This compilation is not only an essential listen but also an essential project that highlights and supports the vital work undertaken by Queer Base. The artwork was created by label creative powerhouse Daniel Rajcsanyi, and the LP was mastered by Blackheadstudios.

"Once you've been out there, you can never return." - lamented the guy, watching out the window, still high from yesterday's galactic rave. "Even at home, you're still out there. On a transfer station. Waiting for the next ship." A large flock of spacegulls flown by, and with the setting of the Sombrero Galaxy, the whole thing looked pretty amazing.  But then, something weird happened.

This one is for the dreamers - first up is ‘AA’ from newcomer T. Margos; it's your ultimate chance to cop that secret banger that's been blowing up dance-floors from London to Budapest this year. It's a tricky one - taking your mind into the stars with deep spacey pads, but yet working your body with the raw 303 bass and painfully heavy 909 treatment. Next on the A-side, Swiss wunderkind Douala's turn to fuel that spaceship of your dreams. ‘It’s All in Your Mind’ soothes your soul with dubby space echos, tear jerking chord progressions and a dreamy acid bassline.

As we slip into the lucid state of the dream, over on the B-side Ray Kandinski’s ‘Dirty Sneakers’ pieces together the kind dimension shifting dream-state that Disneyland could barely imagine. When those vocals and pads kick in, combined with the tricky beats everything becomes a wash of surrealism and logic – and it all happens just in time for you to awake into yet another dream, this time deep within your sub-conscious on ‘Walk Through’ by the mysterious DJ Lucy with Mike L. A nostalgic trip to your most beautiful memories, with uplifting flutes and Juno chords.

It’s like all you ever thought to have known is put into question. Opening with a thumping, rough and sturdy bang, Raär strikes Susan back with a subtle killer that makes you wonder whether your monitors have blown up. Rest assured, they haven’t. Complete distortion but total control.

And then, suddenly, you remember that girl you used to talk to all the time. She’s alone now, and she’s gently whispering in your ears, not knowing what to say. Synths do the rest of the talking, whilst the glittery waves sprinkle in the faraway landscape. When She’s Alone makes you think, it makes you feel like you’re in a room packed with people but every detail surpasses you, almost making you feel like you “weren’t there”. Speak up, because she wants to hear your voice.

The casualness in Sports Casual gives you a moment to take a whiff of fresh air. The xylophonic drops resemble the sweat that slowly makes its way down your freshly ironed tank top. Once you have gathered your senses, you just casually keep running up that hill until you peak. Rick’s tunes are both a motivation and an ode to anyone who has ever doubted the sexiness of hot pants and vintage velour bomber jackets. Combine that with a ‘stache and a pair of sunglasses a mid ’80s porn director would wear and you are the disco ball of all disco balls.

On a completely different edge, it’s the moustache man himself who blesses us with casual, sporty bumpers. Monk Nash never slows down, it just keeps going. Ever been at the gym and felt like you wanted to give up? Rick Sheen will make sure you won’t.

Wild Oats proudly presents a new 7 inch from Kyle Hall entitled ‘Eutrophia Sevan’. This project is an ode to the earth and its plant based life forms that give us sustenance, nurturing, and knowledge through both its cultivation, observation, and consumption.

Additional Notes & Thoughts:

It is my understanding that all energetic material in which we interact with serves as a software of a kind that is loaded into our systems via our five senses and influence the manner in which we behave and process our realities.

Plants have many ways of interacting with our senses. One form of this sensory interaction with plants is the ingestion of them for the purpose of intoxication. In this form the plant sends information to our neural networks which we interpret as sensation of a shift in our state of mind, body, and spirit. When a plant of this type is in the hands of a creative mind, these shifts in ones perspective can allow for the possibility of the integration of new concepts and ideas that can provide insight in an array of aspects of its consumers life experience. From this unification one now begins to see the connection between things that were once to them seemingly unrelated. These teachings then become motifs that then can be applied to whatever the creative individuals mode of expression is.

Of course we also eat certain plants to provide sustenance, nourishment and satiation. The Sweet Potato root is one of these plants that provide this for us. Having a feeling of being full, nourished, and satisfied gives a stronger capacity to be grounded. Being grounded allows for us to focus and align ourselves with what we must do in order to attract what we personally need in our lives.

Eating a plants fruit, taking its seed and caring for it till it grows into plant itself is a symbolism of the overall connection between all life and all processes that occur with in it. This indicates that plants contain a level of supreme intelligence that can only be tapped into by our communion and honoring of them.

Parisian cassette label Ville Nouvelle are back with a forthcoming tape! This time for VNC005 ‘Dream Plants’ we have 5 tracks by Soft Fit and then another 4 by Aquatic Language, which is a collaborative project between Soft Fit and Precipitation, both of whom are Vancouver-based.

You might know Ville Nouvelle by its only 12” release – a beautiful, beautiful work by fellow Parisian Too Smooth Christ which came out earlier this year. If you’re a regular Bolting Bits reader, you might even remember the label from our VNC004 premiere a few months back, which featured young Australians Yardley and River Yarra. Or, you might simply draw familiarity in the release’s cover art, because despite featuring artworks from different graphic designers for each of its releases, Ville Nouvelle has curated for itself a strong, recognisable label image… and an even more distinct sound. This is a sound which is hazy and soothing; it has a penchant for the organic, the earthy, and with past EP names like ‘Midsummer Melodies’ and ‘LD Fantasy Tracks’, you’d only imagine that there’d be an ethereal flair to it too.

VNC005 ‘Dream Plants’ certainly takes on this sound, but then goes to extend way beyond it with tracks like ‘Lifelike’, a flute duet study in compound-duple time, and ‘Départ’, an 8-and-a-half-minute cinematic soundtrack. A personal favourite is ‘Water Garden’, which features traditional East Asian instrumentation against a trickling stream of water-drop percussion.

Our premiere today is Soft Fit’s A3 ‘Emergency Loop’. The track features creamily pressed-in block chords on woodwind synths, drum machine oscillations, and jazzy explorations on a saxophone synth. At times the bass provides a mellow counter-melody to the sax, other times it bounces us along with a punchy riff, paired perfectly with the shimmery percussive highs. ‘Emergency Loop’ is warm, it’s sincere, and it’s gently elevating. Like the other tracks of the EP, it is a great story-teller – imaginative and picturesque, immersing you in a separate, well-considered scene within the ‘Dream Plants’ narrative.

A FH favorite artist, Tilman returning to a FH favorite label, Klamauk could be nothing other than good vibes really, could it? Well, yes - good vibes they are, with another stellar offering from the diligently vibesum German. From front to flip, Tilman's 'Let's Work it Out' EP almost chronologically toys with the dance floor journey - turning up the heat with the club ready, energetic A-side and easing down with the B-sides post-3am melancholic flavor.

This feature's "Moment's" hits with warmth from the off - filling the entirety of mix's bottom-end with moody rhodes and licked with a soft, surging sub. This is later adjoined with a silky piano melody intertwined with detroit-esque vocal shouts - filling the upper end of the mix with silky sweetness. In a nutshell "Moment's" is a real warming umami broth of a jam - salty-sweet, bowl slurping kinda' shit.

1881: Guccio Gucci is born in Florence.

1897: He finds work in the Savoy Hotel, London.

In 1921 on the via del Parione in Florence, 
Guccio Gucci opened a store dedicated to luxury leather goods for horseback riding. These accessories, inspired by a refined esthetic particular to the British aristocracy, became widely popular allowing Guccio Gucci to open two new boutiques in 1938, one of which was on via Condotti in Rome.

Throughout the 1950s, Gucci relied on the equestrian world that initially established him as a notable designer. Drawing inspiration from horse saddle straps, the designer matched contrasting colors in his collections, establishing Gucci’s iconic green-red-green stripe, which immediately went down well with customers. With the opening of new stores in Milan in 1949, and New York City and Paris in 1963, the fashion house gained prestige and visibility in the international fashion business.

When Guccio Gucci died in 1953, the designer’s sons Aldo, Ugo, Vasco, and Rodolfo followed in their father’s footsteps at the head of the company. Branded with a new logo paying homage to the company’s founder—the double G—the fashion house continued to release iconic pieces throughout the 1960’s:  the bamboo bag, the hobo bag, horse bit moccasins , and the Flora scarf designed by Vittoro Accornero on Rodolfo Gucci’s personal request for Princess Grace Kelly. Quickly renowned for its timeless collections, the Gucci fashion house obtained a wide clientele of celebrities from both Cinecittà and Hollywood such as Jackie Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor, Peter Sellers and Samuel Beckett.

The 1970s were marked by the fashion house’s entry into the Far East market. Boutiques were opened in Tokyo and Hong Kong and a new line was created at the heart of the company: ready-to-wear. In 1994, Tom Ford was named as creative director. For the next ten years, he built into the company’s traditional image a provocative and bold style that immediately echoed throughout the world of fashion. Pointed heels and low-cut dresses in jersey with metal detailing instantly became the symbol of Tom Ford’s seductive and glamorous vision.

After Tom Ford’s departure from the fashion house in 2004, former director of the brand’s accessory line Frida Giannini was promoted to the company’s sole creative director in 2006. The designer reinterpreted the heritage that her predecessors established creating a fusion of past and present, of history and modernity.

The Pharcyde (pronounced "far side") is an American alternative hip hop group, formed in 1989, from South Central Los Angeles. The original four members of the group are Imani (Emandu Wilcox), Slimkid3 (Trevant Hardson), Bootie Brown (Romye Robinson), and Fatlip (Derrick Stewart). DJ Mark Luv was the group's first disc jockey (DJ), followed by producer J-Swift and then J Dilla.[citation needed] The group is perhaps best known for the hit singles "Drop", "Passin' Me By" and "Runnin'", as well as their first album, Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde (1992). The group continues to tour and record, both collaboratively and in solo projects—the most recent being Hardson's collaborative EP with the award-winning DJ Nu-Mark (of Jurassic 5) released in 2014 on Delicious Vinyl
