Code Rising is an American Electro duo that was formed in 2010 and consists of Matt Lancaster (South Carolina) and Ryan Phillips (South Florida). Over the years, Code Rising has shared the stage and worked with some of the biggest names in the Electro music scene; performing live mainly in Miami and the surrounding Florida coasts.
After a healthy line of digital releases on Monotone Records from 2010-2013, the duo saw the release of their first full-length CD "Dissemination Protocol" on their own label, Propulsion Recordings. 2021 saw the largest release from the duo yet; "A Spectral Odyssey" was released digitally via BandCamp with a whopping 18 track playlist. Accounting for original and collaborative work, the duo have more than several 12" EP releases in their catalogue. So, what's coming up? In early 2023 a 12" wax release of "Retro Miami (Extended Cut)" and "Don't Stop The Beat feat. Gucci Bass & E.P.G." will be available via Dominance Electricity (Germany).

1. Which artists has influenced you the most?
There are too many to name because we take inspiration from many different artists.. even different genres at times. Even in terms of Electro only, it's still too many to name and we think this mix is a testament to that.

2. What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?
"Retro Miami" got an extended cut treatment and will be out on vinyl along with "Don't Stop The Beat" Feat. Gucci Bass & EPG in early 2023. This release will be distributed via Dominance Electricity. Aside from those, we have ~10 or so additional tracks in the works. Several of which can be heard in this mix. Also, be on the lookout for Mixer Fixer: Part 2, which may or may not be a wax release as it is yet TBD.

3. Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?
Dominance Electricity has been kind enough to have us on board several times now. We give a huge "Thanks!" to Matthias Weise for that and we hope to continue releasing music with him. It's always an honor to be part of such a respectable label with a clear vision and the means to execute it. Not to mention Matthias is just a great guy to work with in general. Super nice!

4. What inspires you now to create music?
The fans.. those people who message us online or chat with us at our live shows about how much they enjoy the sounds we create.. that's a big thing that keeps us going. Though tweaking knobs, writing beats, and experimenting with odd synth sounds is something we take a pleasure in doing anyway. It's difficult for any artist to keep their same sound and style over time and at the same time not sound "formulated". So we keep challenging ourselves to do more, do better, and be different. Our efforts are a small contribution, but like many others in the community, we try to help push the next wave of Electro sounds toward the future.

On that note, most inspiring of all is the fact that there are many, many talented people around the globe producing stellar Electro; Their love and imagination for the genre being the only ceiling of their creativity and chosen style. This fact alone means Electro as a whole will always be immune from sounding over-saturated and boring.

XS, aka Jay Fatigate has been a staple in the electronic dance music scene since 1989.  Starting off in New York with Freestyle, Miami Bass, House, Hip Hop, and R&B.  In 1991 he assisted a DJ in New York’s Palladium Night Club when he received his first techno record by recording artist L.A. Style, which wrote, “James Brown is Dead.”  In 1992 he moved to Daytona Beach, FL where he entered the “Florida Rave Scene.”  He began to DJ for the Mad House @ Zonkers in Daytona Beach.  As his talent spread on scene flyers and by word of mouth,  he began to spin and work many bookings in Orlando, Gainesville, Tampa, Tallahassee,  Miami, and Fort Lauderdale, at all major venues.  In 1997 he was signed to “Go Off Productions” and played for major promotional companies such as Culture Productions, and FSOB, traveling the county.   He retired for 20 years to raise a family in South Florida.  As the pandemic hit, he began to create again.  “I have Returned” was his comeback compilation, streaming now on SoundCloud.  Currently he’s been booked by promoters such as FSOB, Sunshine State of Bass, 808 Life, Frajile Recordings, Theoryon, Culture, and  more.  His unique style of mixing will send you on a journey that you will definitely want more of!
