Episode 329 brings us a mix from a legend in the game, Genotype, aka Just Jungle for the older headz!

Before we get to the mix, Genotype has a newly release LP that I think all of you should pick up, entitled More Fire! I want to highlight 3 tracks from the LP that caught my ears: More Fire, Gyal Tune, which comes courtesy of his Just Jungle moniker, and Roadman! Wicked LP this one is!

Genotype's mix starts off with some rollers, both smooth and upfront, easing you into the mix! The mix then moves into some crispy amen bizness, switching back to some smooth and old school influenced rollers, keeping that massive vibe! Rollers and another wicked amen track dominate the last half of the mix, all of the tracks in this mix come courtesy of Genotype and his various monikers, Just Jungle, and Jus Dubz! Big tunes in this one!

Let's meet our dj for episode 329, Genotype:

Justin Richardson is a London based DJ/Producer. His talent has never stayed unnoticed. The ideas which seem so simple but work so well make the other producers wonder.

Justin produces tunes in many genres so he is an all-rounder when it comes to music. His moods determine what sound he will put towards the beats.

This talented musician has proven through achievements that anything is possible with consistent application. Throughout the time he has produced under following aliases: Genotype, Just Jungle, Mastermind, J.D.R, Jus Dubz, Craftsman, and World Collective.

Justin is currently running 5 different Labels. Each Label their own different sound and even genre. 'G-Lab Recordings' is more harder Drum and Bass orientated. 'Just Dubz Recordings' is more of a Dub/Reggae sound. Deeper Sessions is more meditation style Drum and Bass with still the deadly elements. More experimentation of sounds. 'J D R Recordings' is a Techno, House Label. 'World Collective' is a label that deals with world music. It is a interesting project for him as he loves to try something new all the time. He has proven to do so many styles of music but yet to find more. The Journey Continues..........

He is also an outstanding Steeldrums performer with 25 years of history, performing at all the prime events such as Notting Hill Carnival, UK National Steelbands Panorama Competition, Trinidad Steelbands Panorama Competition plus all over the UK and Europe.

In 1994, during one of his college performances he was spotted by Clayton Hines (A&R for Trouble On Vinyl Records and Renegade/Hardware Recordings) who signed him to his label. Justin’s first release was ‘Gold EP’ and that was also licensed to the German company, SPV.

His second release, ‘Sky’, was a track that got played by almost every DJ in the London drum and bass circuit. MCA, Acid Jazz, Sony Japan and Production House also licensed this track. Since then Justin has developed in leaps and bounds in the world of drum and bass.

He has produced for numerous big labels like Exit Records, Cylon Recordings, Renegade Hardware, Renegade Recordings, Moving Shadow, Audio Couture, L plates, Pennyblack Recordings, Phat Traxs, Reinforced Records, Slow Motion, Fashion, Social Circles, Sony, Broken Audio Recordings, Offkey and Voodoo.

After what feels like an unholy passage of time since our first 12" release, Discipline is extremely pleased to announce that we are back in the game with a sequel that, while tonally quite different from our first, should be right up the alleyway of any discerning DJ of expressive, forward-thinking Drum and Bass music. Antagonist's "Cycles" is a cinematic excursion through a carefully sequenced procession of moods, seven and a half minutes of spacious, balanced dynamics, squalling acidic stabs and sparse percussion punctuated by sharp Amen cuts in the final stretch. Cycling through a range of emotions, the carefully crafted delivery, and the gradual emergence and departure of each theme add up to a gloriously coherent statement.

About 5 years ago Parallel and myself compiled tracks for an album. The theme was centered around space; both the outer reaches of our solar system, and the inner processes of the mind. Unfortunately, at the same time as we were collating, we suffered a catastrophic hard drive failure. Then the backups failed. All within a short amount of time, we had lost all but a collection of 320Kbps MP3'S. For one reason or another, it ended up being handed out as a freebie through a little used link. All of that hard work gone, like tears in the rain. Ahem. Fast forward to now, I've got a label, and even though we've still only got the 320's, I have comissioned some new artwork from the very talented Dasha ... and am getting them all put to tape, alongside a handful of newer things that fit with the theme. I'll be making this available digitally over at the bandcamp when I get the tapes back from duplication. TL;DR New Tape out January // Drum and Space.
