This just went for mastering for vinyl at Ten Eight Seven yesterday alongside tracks by Scale and Greenleaf - going to be part of a jazz influenced Dnb/Jungle 12" on Subtle Audio called 'Sepia Grooves'. The Pressing plant queues are long, but hopefully this will be out by mid 2022.

The 'Sepia Grooves' release pays tribute to the influence of jazz, funk and soul 
music on DnB / Jungle and to the players (most particularly the drummers) who have inspired so much of what we do today. The 3 tunes included on the release feature some of the biggest breaks in Drum & Bass, namely the Amen, the Apache and the Funky Drummer and there are photo's of each of the people responsible for the original rhythms on the sleeve and on the vinyl labels. Okay, so some of us that are close to the music know who's responsible for the foundational beats, but it still feels like people such as Gregory Coleman, Clyde Stubblefield, King Errisson and others haven't really gotten the respect and kudos they deserve to this day. This is our little way of saying thank you to these great people and of raising awareness about their contribution to the music we love so much.

Code's 'Sunday Jazz' features Funky Drummer inspired beats accompanied by double bass, melancholic rhodes keys, drifty synths and Polynesian vocal refrains that all combine to evoke a hazy, smoky jazz vibe. There's a switch-up after the breakdown half-way through when the drums roll-out more and the double-bass patterns open out to enter a call and response routine with some heavier, darker bass sounds.

1. Tell us about your Kool FM show 
It’s going really well! I’m enjoying myself and it feels like I’m part of a type of musical family which is really heartwarming because I’m still new to the scene. Everyone that assists us DJs is so lovely, and it’s really reassuring when people phone in as well, it feels less lonely which is quite common when playing in a room on your own. I couldn’t ask for a better experience on radio!

2. Tell us about exciting gigs and guest mixes you have coming up 
I’ve not got any guest mixes after this as of yet but I am booked to play with the Unorthodox family, which will be really exciting since I’ve never played with them before, that will be really fun and it’ll be nice to see some friendly faces down there too! I’m also playing at my second festival this year which is insane, I’m headed off to Italy to play at *Sun & Bass with the Rupture crew! My heart dropped when I got the email, that will be my 3rd holiday and set abroad this year which is still so surreal to me. 

3. If you became invisible for the day, what would you do? 
Ooooh tough question, haha. I’d probably travel abroad to a land of countries, specifically where lychees are still in season (they’re my favourite fruit) and take them back home or probably dine and dash in a restaurant I’ve always wanted to go to so I can eat good food without the price tag!
