For our final show of 2021, @codeword-london hosts Biri, one of Tel Aviv’s finest electronic-music exports. @biri1990's signature blend of trippy, hypnotic and deep techno releases have been snapped up by leading labels including Len Faki’s @figure.official, Inland’s @counterchange-inland , Derrick May’s @transmat,  and most recently with his latest EP, 'Untitled Drift' on Psyk’s @nonseries.

Biri’s musical and geographic journey from his hometown Jerusalem to Tel Aviv, via Berlin and now London, also includes a successful collaboration as artist duo Deep’a and Biri and founding the label Black Crow. As a solo artist in his own right, Biri is pushing the boundaries of deep techno and IDM and is on a trajectory that merits serious attention.

Codeword w/ Biri (Threads Radio - 16 Dec 2021)

Codeword returns for its first Threads Radio show of 2022 (episode 27) hosting Viels (@viels), a rising star among a new generation of techno artists. The Milan-based artist has charted releases across labels including Non Series, Semantica, Dynamic Reflection, Edit Select and most recently a 4-track EP on @oscarmulero's Warm Up Recordings.

The founder of End of Perception (@endofperception) and resident at Milan's Acquario Immersioni is gaining recognition for his rugged, mechanical,  intense and groove-filled releases and DJ sets, and this 1h vinyl-only mix for Codeword is no exception.

Codeword hosts Sabinē (@sabina-inoyatova), the Riga-based, Uzbekistan-born DJ, producer, club-programmer and event promoter. 

Sabinē is making waves across central and eastern Europe and Eurasia with her direct, industrial-infused techno - and this 1h mix for Codeword on Threads Radio is no exception.

Having played alongside the likes of Nina Kraviz, Answer Code Request, Perc, Sigha and more, upcoming dates include a debut in Baku, Azerbaijan and an event at her home-base in Latvia with MCMLXXXV.

Under her alias, Susanne Kirchmayr has continued on her ascetic path and overcame colleagues who quipped that techno was the music of the past, with sets built on expertly crafted percussion loops and intelligent sampling behind the decks at just about every club you can name. A name cannot just define you. A name is a written reflection of your most authentic self. Coming from Latin “woman of the Sabine people” - Sabinē is an honest, wise fighter, always having a straight objective in her head and not only trying but making it work. Being a key figure of electronic music in Uzbekistan, developing Sublimation event series as a co-founder, producing, promoting, working as an art director and even helping to organize a first Boiler Room video in her home country is already a lot on her plate, yet still she manages to harmonize her work life while being a mother of two wonderful boys. At the moment, Sabinē is based in Riga, serving as a resident DJ and a team member at the One One club. The word that could describe her connection with music and listeners is freedom. Not only Sabinē dives into the sounds to express her inner world, yet takes the audience on this journey together, breaking all the walls around: “There is no place for religion, politics, nationality. We are all united in music”. Stihia Festival (in the middle of the Died Aral Sea dessert) and Solar Institute X Boiler Room are the most memorable and unique events she has performed at. However, the list does not end there as Sabinē also presented her set at the renowned Berlin HÖR and many different venues around Eurasia alongside Nina Kraviz, Dr. Rubinstein, Dasha Rush, Hector Oaks, Perc, Regal, Tommy Four Seven. Let’s immerse into: “a variety of evocative techno sounds ranging from industrial and acid thumping with the spirit of resistance”.

As the next guest on the Fast Forward Audio Series, we are presenting you with: Sabinē

 Sabinē is the leading figure of the new electronic music generation in Uzbekistan, as well as the co-founder of Sublimation Collective launched an audacious label, which seeks to push boundaries, produce collaborative tracks & give a voice to emerging artists. Today, she is a Riga based DJ, Label manager, producer and promoter, who served as a resident DJ at the One One club (Rīga).    

Sabinē was born in Uzbekistan, in industrial town Chirchik, and shares her love for a variety of evocative techno sounds ranging from industrial and acid thumping with the spirit of resistance. Her dirty kicks, fat rhythmics, raw percussions and pretty melodies are always the finest experience of electronic music.  

She performed at Stihia (former Aral Sea, UZ) and  Under (Riga, LV) festivals, as well as presented her set at Boiler Room, the renowned Berlin HÖR, legendary club Tresor, as well as different venues around Eurasia alongside Nina Kraviz, Dr. Rubinstein, Dasha Rush, Hector Oaks, Perc, Regal, Tommy Four Seven.
