Selling out shows from LA to London, Daniel Goldstein aka Lane 8 marked himself out as one of electronic music’s rising stars in 2015 with the release of his acclaimed debut album ‘Rise’ on Anjunadeep. Highly praised by The New York Times, Hype Machine, Mixmag, The Fader and The Metro, and supported by global tastemakers Annie Mac, Jason Bentley and Pete Tong, Lane 8’s diverse sound connected with audiences across the board.

Casting new light on the songs and musicality at its heart, ‘Rise (Live & In Session)’ collates live and session recordings of five tracks from the album, recorded with collaborators Solomon Grey and Lulu James and featuring live keys and arrangement from Daniel himself.

Album opener ‘Loving You’ appears as an ‘In Session’ performance with original vocalist and Jon Hopkins collaborator Lulu James.

Long-time collaborators Solomon Grey return on of ‘Diamonds’ and ‘Hot As You Want’, taken from the popular ‘In Session’ videos debuted last year, originally premiered by Fact Magazine.

Closing the EP is a recorded live rendition of ‘Hot As You Want’ and a Solomon Grey-sung live cover of ‘Loving You’, both taken from an intimate Lane 8 live show at Peckham Liberal Club in London.

Her hands-on approach to production and, in this case, reworking 4x4 music, lead to countless dancefloor destroyers – and this rework is no exception. Pitching down the initial 160 BPM to 130 BPM and giving the key elements of the original production in a leading role, de Witte delivers a heart-warming track that combines the best of both past and present. They’re also prolific remixers, recently reworking Gabriel & Dresden’s ‘Coming On Strong’, 3LAU and XIRA’s ‘Tokyo’, and Nox Vahn’s ‘Brainwasher’.

In the words of Above & Beyond: “Fatum make tracks that demand a big stage”. ‘Out Of Space’ continues that formula. Lending vocals to the track is Australian singer/songwriter and producer Trove, who has featured on tracks for Last Heroes, Steve Brian, and Monstercat.

Fatum have now turned their attention to a cover of ‘Symphotek’, originally released by trance duo Planisphere in 2004. In the words of Above & Beyond: “Fatum make tracks that demand a big stage”. Their take on ‘Symphotek’ is another fine example.

“Like many others, we first heard ‘Symphotek’ on Above & Beyond’s Essential Mix in 2004 - an era in trance in which our sound is heavily influenced. It’s really great that we were able to do the song justice with our current sound and we are very proud to represent this interpretation as our own.” - Fatum
