Hello again, Happy New Year to everyone out there.

Another holiday related gift for you, and this is one I know many of you anticipate every single year - the Global DJ Broadcast Classics Showcase.

When I was growing up and getting lost in music on the radio, some of my fondest memories involved listening to all the classic songs that would be played, particularly on New Year's Day. So the idea of doing a classics showcase once a year on GDJB was born out of those feelings. 

It's always one of the most mentally challenging and emotionally demanding sets to put together, because somehow you want to create a journey that will be magical for everyone to listen to - regardless of how long you have been listening to all things electronica. For many of you, there will be a whole host of iconic tracks you will be hearing for the first time, and maybe even unearthed gems for the more seasoned folk. 

So hopefully this is something that will resonate with you for some time to come. As a new year dawns, we can take a moment to celebrate the tunes and moments that define our era.

Hope you have a wonderful 2014, and hope even more that we can create some magical memories together.

Hello again.

Presenting the first of two special summer gifts for you, the second being a 4 hour set for Coldharbour Day on Tuesday July 26th. But before that, one of the most challenging and anticipated projects every year, which began almost as soon as last year's ended.

The Sunrise Set. The seventh edition of the Global DJ Broadcast Sunrise Set. 

You know, this year as a whole has seen the world go through some tragic attrocities and terrible incidents, affecting all of us wherever we may be. 

Nothing will ever change or make up for these things, but I hope that with this journey, you will find solace and hope with your friends, family, loved ones, or even those times you are alone.

As Solid Stone proudly became the first artist responsible for a full album on Coldharbour Recordings through the release of Introspection, one track in particular captured the immediate and long-lasting attention of fans worldwide - the dark yet touching Heart Call. 

A familiar collaborative voice on previous Solid Stone compositions, his good friend Jennifer Rene shines through the emotions behind the words, with many citing the piece as a contender for track of 2016. Already receiving extensive support from Markus Schulz, Above & Beyond, Ferry Corsten, Giuseppe Ottaviani and many others, the original will find a proud place on radio and in the clubs. 

The remixes are no less outstanding, with progressive master Jerome Isma-Ae, having a stellar year in his own right, adding a dark, driving and somewhat sinister approach. And for melodic trance lovers, New York native Monoverse presents Heart Call in a more energetic case, whilst maintaining the soul of the original. 

The echoes of Heart Call will ring throughout the remainder of 2016. And on reflection, it may go down as a seminal piece for the ages.

Lebanese DJ/producer Köschk is back with a fresh new four-tracker in the form of his latest offering, 'Speak My Mind EP'. This one follows a string of remixes over the last 12 months as well as superb originals. After several appearances on Bonzai Progressive compilations, he began to deliver top-notch original works which always grab a lot of attention.

'Tether' intros with a classic kick drum backed up with intriguing percussions & atmospheric FX. A plucky rolling bassline fades in before the kicks are given a boost, settling the track into a smooth progressive mover. Shimmering synths bring a melodic flavor on the break before we head back into the deeper, moody groove once more. A solid cut that will not disappoint.

'Speak My Mind' is up next, delivering a sharper slice thanks to punchy kicks & defined FX. Surreal sounds float around the background, adding a deeper layer, while a rippling bass sits subtly on the low end. Sporadic percussions dish out a cool rhythm before brighter, melodic elements come through. On the break, a striking, gritty & organic synth hits us square in the face, contrasting with the softer notes. Top-notch stuff for the late sessions.

'Funktion' sets us on a much deeper course. On the intro, we find a muted kick drum & earthy atmosphere that lulls us in. A rolling bassline takes control, becoming the main feature with its stand out signature. The track combines various strange, eerie sounds into a surreal, otherworldly construction, topped off with a strong progressive groove. Very nice indeed, not to be missed.

'Spacewalk' does as the title suggests, taking us for a trek into the outer atmosphere. A steady building groove made up of strong basses & flowing rhythms get us there, in-tact & ready for the climax. This comes in the form of beautifully crafted arp sequences that rise & fall, releasing energy into the mix. An absolute must for the more energetic sets.

Hold your breath for this one! Having shared a life together through song title and lyric (not least 'Breathe Me To Life', 'You & I', 'Universe Is Mine' & 'Muse'), soul mates Markus & Adina open another chapter today.

Their first on-the-record since the 'We Are The Light'-based 'Breathe Me To Life', 'Indestructible's sentiments couldn't be any clearer, nor its sonic chemistry more evident.

For his part in this consummate two-hander, Markus conspires clubfloor uproar at every production turn and twist. Marching drums, tech resonance, percussive crunch and bursts of call-and-response distortion all surge through 'Indestructible's system. In the drop, he cracks the door to some lighter tones, raining down the pianoforte and overturing Adina's heart-on-sleeve, but no-punches-pulled song.

Touching on the themes familiar to most, Adina contemplates not only love's nature, but also what it takes to make it survive and thrive. Post-break, through an uprush of b-line power, pitch flame and big synth glory, Markus answers that call.

Living both through and for the music, 'Indestructible' presents another window into Markus Schulz & Adina Butar's shared world.

Weska is back with a Third Wave and it’s a monster comprised of three original cuts.

After years building a career and getting music signed to everyone from Drumcode, Suara and Tronic, travelling the globe with gigs in Australia, Canada and all over Europe, and appearing as part of the mighty Drumcode showcases, it’s safe to say Weska is right on the cusp of his career. 

‘Timespan’ is a darkly melodic bruiser for the late-night industrial crowds. Rolling bass and sizzling hats ride the rhythm as saw-toothed dystopian synths create atmosphere and intrigue. Spoken word vocals and a melodic key line add spice midway, then its heads down and stomp until dawn.

For the third year running, Anske answered the call to showcase exclusive vocal trance material in Markus Schulz's annual In Bloom mix. For 2020, this yields the tender Loving U.

The track sees the Lithuanian reunited with vocalist Ellie White; with the pair collaborating on last year's entry Bring My Spirit.

Loving U plays to the strengths of both, demonstrating Anske's knack of producing addictive melodies regardless of vocal or instrumental pieces. And for Ellie White, her lyrics are sure to put a smile on faces at a time when they are needed.
