KHOST [Deconstructed And Reconstructed By] GODFLESH 'Needles Into The Ground' CD/LP (CSR215CD/LP)

Needles Into the Ground contains material by Khost which has been elementally transformed by Justin Broadrick of Godflesh. The original Khost material – taken from their second album Corrosive Shroud – is dense, multifaceted and purgatorial with no straightforward ‘stems’ based approach. Broadrick has extracted what he needed for his work whilst in pure Godflesh mode. As a result, the outcome is claustrophobic and frenetic, the experience akin to being in the proximity of a large, unstable machine on the verge of meltdown. In addition to these pieces, Khost has added a new track. Vinyl comes with download code.

“If it was a painting it would be about a kilometer wide held up by old, thick metal supports and wires that creak in wind, in parts abstract, in parts quite hard to decipher, and the materials would be oil like and seeping, never quite drying out” (Khost).

Chicago's esteemed instrumental quartet Pelican are set to release a new EP on Southern Lord in the new year based around fresh reimaginings of 'The Cliff', a highlight from their most recent album, 2013's Forever Becoming, and one recently completed new song. Due out February 24 on 12” vinyl and digital formats, the four track EP includes remixes from Justin Broadrick (of Godflesh, Jesu), Aaron Harris and Bryant Clifford Meyer of ISIS/Palms, and, for only the second time in their fourteen year career, vocals.

Allen Epley (Shiner, The Life and Times) once again returns to the band’s fold to transform, in a complementary manner, the concept and overall outcome of what we have come to know as Pelican. No cheap juxtaposition, Epley’s seasoned voice is as broad and astonishingly capable on “The Cliff” as the members behind the music, a claim those who have listened to Epley’s contribution on “Final Breath” from 2009’s What We All Come To Need will attest to. Elsewhere on the record, Justin Broadrick and AH/BCM turn in fresh takes of the source material, feeling less like remixes than new compositions reworked from the original source. Rounding out the set is the previously unreleased song “The Wait”, a contemplative semi-acoustic simmer that builds to an explosion of cathartic distortion and melody in true Pelican fashion.

Friends and frequent collaborators Justin K. Broadrick and Dirk Serries return with this fantastic prelude to Dirk's final chapter in his Microphonics series for Tonefloat. The long-awaited follow-up to his criticially-acclaimed xxi-xxv album (2013) is currently being recorded.
This collaborative song is a beautiful example of their sheer passion for ambience, new wave, shoegaze and all other genres they have been, in their own style, creating musical bridges between. Pressed on virgin black 7" with a 80s press-out and housed in a beautiful 2-panel cover and a sturdy pvc selve, this release will be available on the day of Dirk Serries' live appearance at DUNK! festival on May 7th 2016.

Written specifically for Double, by the Bugman, to amplify the mc's warp factor flow, the producer propels his trademark weight with an off kilter swing. Result is an unusually catchy dancefloor banger, that heads resolutely back to the club, after the moody narrative detours of 'Angels & Devils'.

Meanwhile, 'Iceman' has already been heralded as the new "Skeng', by the many djs who have already dropped it on dubplate.
