Years of Denial is back on Veyl with their second LP 'Suicide Disco Vol. 2'. The follow up to 2019’s 'Suicide Disco', the duo makes a triumphant return, elevating their distinct sound which fuses dark wave, goth, new-beat, post-punk, EBM, and techno. The LP features 12 tracks all written and produced at Ark of Noise studio, located miles away from the polluted noise of social turbulences, immersed in isolation, creative indulgence, and poetic writing. 

From the start, 'Art Break' provides the perfect warm-up, gently cleansing the palette and re-introducing us to Barkosina’s lustful vocals with a slow-burning pace that only marks the beginning. 'Wrong' picks things up, injecting a dose of body music for an infectious piece that bleeds into 'La Pendue' which keeps the energy rising. Next up, 'Mr. Guillotine' delivers a razor sharp edge, carving out a fresh post-punk feel which then brings us to the brooding, 'Never Satisfied'. 

'Lover’s Crime' marks the halfway point of the record and one of the album’s standout tracks. Undeniably seductive with an ominous feel, the pair keep this mood going with 'City Lights' and then smash things open with 'Dancing With Demons'. After the devious message sent with 'The Letter', we are submerged in the romantic melancholia of 'Death Of A Lover' and 'Regarding the Pain of Others' before closing things out with 'Social Anxiety' which features vocals by longtime collaborator Broken English Club. The result is an immersive journey through the pair’s self described, Suicide Disco sound, and further builds on the Years of Denial form and legacy.

How can we preserve our intimacy, when we’re stuck in a public space? While facing solitude or grief, we wish that we could make the whole world disappear around us. Tilda Vaast feels out of place during her stay in the city of Marseille and she would like to blur all the lines. She nurtures a deep resentment and would like to teleport or dissolve herself out of space and time.

Originally self-released as a 7’’ in 1982, Plath release is definitely one of the obscure gems of the Italian underground.
Plath were a duo from Prato, formed in 1982 by Silvia Innocenti (voice, bass guitar) and Fabrizio Lucarini (synth, drum machine). Plath were influenced by Throbbing Gristle and early Cabaret Voltaire works, moving in between two essential thematic actions: first, the constant search of a sound which aims to reflect the current reality as they were interpretating it and, second, the constant exposure of their anarchist ideological thinking against the established political and social system.
While the A-Side includes the original single in full, with the classic ‘I Am Strange Now’, recently unearthed by Alessio Natalizia/Not Waving in his monumental ‘Mutazione’ compilation released by Strut Records in 2013, the B-side instead contains a killer percussive edit of Alessandro Adriani made for the most crazy mental dancefloors..

She Lives at Night

A single rocky path was the only route up the dusty hill to the ancient gardens. Not many ventured up there, it rarely welcomed visitors anymore. Most of it had been left untouched since it had been a landmark decades ago; dead trees bordered the crumbling walls and the marble fountains were dry from years spent without water. But the place still had a sense of magic about it, even in its decaying state. From the top you could see the whole of Istanbul and from here the city never looked so beautiful… 

Lyon's Hard Fist are a label influenced by global and ancestral sounds, their mission to twist these into dance floor focused cuts. Having previously charted releases from Pletnev, Timothy Clerkin, Bawrut and label heads Cornelius Doctor and Tushen Raï, the next comes in the form of volume no 2 of their Princes Of Abzu VA series. The release involves contributions from Mekine U Teksi, Que Sakamoto, Feller, Ayma with Kaan Duuzarat on remix duties, and our pick from LINJA, all of which explore influences ranging from EBM and acid to tribal and darkwave.
