Colgate, a rapper with a wide sonic range, spanning from gritty underground hip-hop, to R&B infused bedroom music. Packs every song with clever lyricism, and lines every song with deeply personal emotional themes. Initially, Colgate began rapping in high school for fun. Freestyling at parties and recording songs with his friends in their basement. Things took a quick and serious turn when he dropped out of high school, after he became homeless due to a child he was expecting. Deciding to pursue rap as a career he began working two jobs from the age of 18 to 22, to provide for his family and newborn daughter.Colgate crafted his raps while fighting the challenges of fatherhood, drug addiction, love affairs, record deals gone sour and the murder of a best friend. His music is a passionate reflection of his struggles and through them all he perseveres with the sharpest of talent and focus.
