Yes we were. It didn’t work out, but became something of our own, which we love very much.
As the year closes we thought you might like to hear it.

The National are a Brooklyn-based five-piece hailing from Ohio. The group contains two pairs of brothers -- Bryce Dessner (guitars), Aaron Dessner (bass, guitars), Scott Devendorf (bass, guitars), and Bryan Devendorf (drums) -- and features Matt Berninger on vocals. The National's music has drawn comparisons to Interpol, the Smiths, Tindersticks, and Tom Waits -- the latter due to Berninger's shattered, beautiful earthquake of a voice, which recalls the holy trinity of Cave, Cash and Cohen. However, though concerned with the forensics of heartbreak specifically and the human condition generally, the band are no mere copycats.

The second edition of our still young Blank Mix Series finally debuts on Soundcloud.
We're more than happy that yet another amazingly talented producer and Dj stepped in and delivered a sophisticated mix of deep and groovy sounds. Exploited Records signed artist Copy Paste Soul just released his brilliant first EP on the Berlin imprint creating forwardthinking deep house sounds full of bouncy basslines and lush chords. Definitely one of our favourite releases this year and an exciting artist to keep an eye on.
This flawless mix features a lot of the artists' original tracks and remixes, combined with exclusive and unreleased material. So watch out for more to come!

Max Cooper - Synesthetes Museum
A mix based on the British Museum
 
Featuring a mix of 12th century Tibetan monks song, one of the first ever recordings of music, made by Thomas Edison on a wax cylinder in 1888, poetic spoken word, 9th century Gregorian Chant, A call to the lama from afar, some unreleased exclusives, 9/8 techno, traditional Chinese music mixed with rude glitch, and a binaural museum.

The brief for this mix was to make something inspired by an architectural space. When I was doing my Post-Doc at UCL I used to go the British Museum to relax, and work in the beautiful library there, so I chose the space for the mix. I wanted to capture the ambient atmosphere in the central courtyard, so I did some binaural recording to include in the mix. I also wanted to make the mix something of an exploration through history and ideas in line with the contents of the museum, so I brought in lots of disparate music spanning the centuries and continents. I also mixed it in a way to be like a journey though the museum, turning corners and regularly coming across something totally different and unexpected, with each track being like a different exhibit. Hence the name of the mix, in that, each piece of music almost has a visual content.
