Obake reveal a brand new track from their second album, Mutations. Listen to "Seven Rotten Globes" 

This explosive track is instantly recognisable as Obake, their trademark heavy, lurching doom guitar riffs, make room for Lorenzo's chameleon-like vocal style, changing constantly throughout the songs duration. However, any sense of this being business as usual is soon shattered by the unpredictable pace-changing drum blasts and ear piercing electronics which hint that a broader range of dynamics are at play on the new record.

Indeed behind the scenes, the quartet comprising Lorenzo Esposito Fornasari (vocals, piano, electronics), Eraldo Bernocchi (guitar, electronics), Balazs Pandi (drums) and Colin Edwin (Porcupine Tree - bass) have been undergoing a metamorphosis, changing the dynamics and channellng their talents to create this new recording.

The sound of Joe Morris’ electric guitar, with distortion pedal set on stun and wah-wah pedal fully engaged, colliding with Jamie Saft’s droning, microtonal organ and Mike Pride’s thunderous free drumming approach to the kit creates a mind-numbing maelstrom on The Spanish Donkey's RAOUL, the improvising trio’s debut on RareNoise records. A followup to XYX, their 2011 release on Northern Spy Records, RAOUL consists of three throbbing tracks -- the brutal 32-minute title track, 22-minute “Behavioral Sink” and 16-minute Echoplex piano feature “Dragon Fly Jones” -- that showcase The Spanish Donkey's remarkable group-think as well as the individual player’s uncanny intuition on their respective instruments. More intensely cathartic, startlingly original and compelling than anything you’ve ever heard -- imagine a mash-up of John Coltrane’s Interstellar Space and Lou Reed’s Metal Machine Music -- RAOUL stands as a hellacious manifesto by one of the most formidable improvising trios around today.

The original of this by the band "This Will Destroy You" has been a favourite of ours for a while. Recently it was featured in the great film Room, which spurred us to make our own version. Here it is, re-imagined the We Are All Astronauts way.
