After a pleasant night camping on the outskirts of Tsilkani, I went for a morning walk and soon came across some Marsh Frogs calling from a small stream. Skylarks and reed warblers called from the distance, so I grabbed my recorder and captured this soundscape.

Marsh Frogs And Skylarks - Tsilkani, Georgia

This recording captures the ambiance of the Botanical Gardens in Tbilisi. The park is large enough to not feel overcrowded, with plenty of secluded spots. Birdsong was everywhere and Marsh Frogs called from various ponds. I sat for a while just away from one of the pathways and recorded this pleasant soundscape.

- This is an edited compilation of a woodcock flying its territory 'Roding' as a mating flight display. 
First time I head this species, which looks very similar to the snipe. 
Interesting call and I look forward to hearing more and perhaps getting a better recording next time.

European Bison sleeping and occasionally grazing in a field at night. Only managed to capture a short excerpt as at this point the village seemed to be very active right when I wanted to record so had to wait for a while.

Distant gibbon calls recorded in 2009 at Thailand's Khao Sok National Park.

As part of a grueling two-day volcano expedition, we woke up at 3.30am on the second day to climb up to the Ijen plateau, a beautiful mineralised volcanic lake at 2600 metres above sea level. 

The trek took us about three hours so we started in the dark and witnessed sunrise as we climbed. The dawn chorus was simply too good not to record.

As we climbed up towards the Ijen Plateau, the soundscape evolved. I found the insect chorus in this recording to be really interesting. It really reminds me of the swamp scene in Star Wars!

This was the sound I would wake up to each morning in Pai, northern Thailand. We were the only people staying at a remote guesthouse where our bungalows were in the middle of a rice paddy field. The morning soundscape was such a great thing to wake up to...insects and distant cockerels.
