Buenos Aires (officially Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires/Autonomous City of Buenos Aires) is the capital and primate city, the political, cultural, commercial, and industrial center of Argentina. Its founders named it after Saint Santa María del Buen Ayre (Spanish for Saint Mary of the Good Air), who is venerated, among other places, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Bonaria in Sardinia.
