Melvins and The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion released their versions of the Leadbelly classic Black Betty on a split 7″ on Minneapolis based Amphetamine Reptile (http://www.amphetaminereptile.com). Available since May from the label, as well as at shows on the JSBX tour, which began at the end of May. The cover art for the sleeve is a lino-cut by Haze-XXL, and should be available as a print as well. No point in keeping an eye on the AmRep site for the this as it's long sold out.

After taking a behind-the-scenes tour of Fermilab, Nick wrote a song from the perspective of the Higgs boson, imploring American scientists to continue the quest for its discovery. This is Nick's demo, which made us cry upon first listen in the middle of Conejito's. The song itself was performed by Davey Von Bohlen of The Promise Ring and Maritime closing the night and bringing the house down at Cedar Block's February 18th  Sexy Results event at Turner Hall. This never-before-heard demo by the original writer is a beautiful keepsake.
