This month, we visit live literature experiment 'Shadowplay' – the story of a fictional global pandemic cancelled by a real global pandemic. Looking at the many projects frustrated, complicated and transformed by lockdown, we'll be taking damage reports from artists across Europe and exploring hopes for a better future. Debuting new music from Amore Meow, Lost Harbours and NOK, and Jacob and Reuben Kyriakides.

This month we take the theme of beginnings, origins – artists and works that begin at home, in the family, or in birth. Through field recordings Broads explore the landscapes and history of their native county Norfolk; Gaze is Ghost and poet Nikki Marrone debut new collaborations and discuss motherhood and creativity; and we welcome Alexander Carson performing in session live from his living room. Finally, longtime CL collaborator Derek Yau debuts his first solo record, ‘May’, out June 25th.

This month we spend two hours with two artists – Rita Says, who with her Orchestra revives and reclaims 20th century experimental classics in the spirit of their modern punk equivalents; and Reuben Kyriakides, elusive composer-producer whose diverse portfolio includes dance scores, hip-hop, alternatively tuned piano, and at least one sound installation about Billy Elliot.

This month we share recent performances and pieces from friends and members of the collective, including Lou Barnell’s performance for Yarmonics Festival, a Moses Batikva live set from Hamburg, and a selection of works from Stephan Barrett’s conceptually eclectic mix of projects (one of which “known for its boundless appetite and complex system of multiple void-like stomachs”). Resonance Extra radio pals Littoral Transmissions also share sessions recorded with absurdist poet James Worse.

Colliding Lines #9 - Barnell/Barrett/Batikva (15 October 2020)

Colliding Lines produce high quality, cross-disciplinary live shows and projects that draw together artists from different fields, including dance, music, spoken word, interactive theatre and film. Together we publish, promote and curate new collaborations, taking joy in creative risks and producing work that matters. By working collectively, we create a space for artists to develop and innovate, exploring new ideas and unfamiliar territories together. However diverse, the unifying characteristics of every Colliding Lines performance or project are that they are immersive, challenging, and unique.
