When i was around 6 my favorite show in Germany was Sesamstrasse. It was a German adaptation of the American Sesame Street. I was really crazy about the show, and I used to always watch it at my Grandparents in Germany.

The intro song was very dear to me. The lyrics went Der Die Das, Wie Weshalb Warum. Which ruffly translates to He She It, How, For what reason, Why.

The intro song spawned this Childish Curiosity in me. I had to explore everything around me. I would bang on lids in the kitchen to hear what they sounded like.

It was this song that made we want to make sounds with different objects, and experiment with early rythms. From this moment on i was engulfed in anything that made a sound.

The mysterious but widely acclaimed R Zone series roll on to a 15th EP now with a new four track release that is as essential as ever. 
Opener Hired Gun is a tough and raw concoction with coarse, snappy snares, rough drum pings and lots of abrasive texture all making for a physical listening experience.  Midwinter is a deeper and more emotive jam with warm pads dampening down icy hi hats and busy synth work. It is fresh and original and sounds like little else, then Captive gets all deep and space-y with smeared pads and slick metallic hits tied together with a molten acid line. Lastly, Exile is five blissful and beautiful minutes of atmospheric, intergalactic electronic sounds that really take you to another place.

Great to see Terminal M queen Monika Kruse teaming up with her buddies Pig&Dan again. It's been more than a year since their common single releases on Pig&Dan's label Elevate or Terminal M but the two guys from Mallorca have been very busy finishing their album, releases for Drumcode and  their upcoming Space Ibiza CD. Meanwhile Monika travelled the world more than ever with her dj bag to bring the techno message to even more places.

Oblivion EP

Monika Kruse Meets Pig&Dan - Oblivion

NYC producer/DJ Tommy Bones submits a few truly effective tracks on his latest War House EP. The first, "8080," titled after the Roland JP 8080 synth used, takes you on a tech journey as the chords build up like an oncoming freight train. The raw and cavernous effects on this are sure to tear up any dance floor.

Up next is War House. Call to Get Down. Time to battle! The title EP track comes in with heavy artillery, transformer sounding effects, airy voices chord stabs and analog synths, all designed to turn your warehouse party into a War House party.

Finally, "Runnin'" starts off with a fat bassline & flipped up vocal sample rolling on for 7 minutes plus & filtered groove that tweeks out and gets funkier as it progresses. It draws you in so much you don't notice your neck's still rockin' shortly after the track is over.

When asked about the concept for this EP, Tommy stated, "War House was created with the intent of making kids go crazy in a warehouse." With almost 30 years in the game, Tommy Bones is a staple in the New York scene. Releasing tracks on Defected, Strictly Rhythm, Realtone, In House, Soul Heaven, Nite Grooves, and other notables, we're excited to welcome him to Dopewax with his 3-track project debut. Clubs have been put on notice. Dance floor warfare has just begun!
