Derry native Colm Warren is the former frontman from locally lauded Belfast punk band The Twenty. Away from music for many years "while wrestling for my soul", he reappeared with a completely different, orchestral backed sound with debut solo single “Void” in 2020 followed by two further songs, "Shame" and "Choked", completing a trilogy of tracks exploring themes of hopelessness and the struggle to find a meaningful place in the world. "Just Me" arrived in May 2021, a song celebrating solitude and meditative contemplation, indicating a more settled existence, while “September Roses" appeared on the morning of his young daughter's 5th birthday in September the same year. A further period of silence ensued before the single "Truth" landed in late 2023, described by Hot Press as "a spine-tingilingly intimate, stunning duet" (with Maeve Smyth), leading to an invitation to perform the track with Ireland's RTE Concert Orchestra at the National Concert Hall in Dublin as part of the National Broadcaster's Christmas celebrations.  At that concert, he also received acclaim for delivering a stunning tribute to the late Shane MacGowan via a performance of "A Rainy Night in Soho" to the packed hall accompanied only by piano.

His follow-up single "Alright" in early 2024, again tackling difficult themes of loss and illness, received widespread press attention and acclaim with Clash describing it as "a moving listen...unveiling a true vulnerability".
 
While picking up acclaim along the way from those almost stumbling across his work, as with his punk band previously, Warren's approach to music-making remains totally unaffected and rooted in an uncompromising quest for artistic authenticity at all costs.
