The intentional interview series aims to normalize the day-to-day application of ADEI principles through exploration and testimonies provided by members of our very own CC community. Through shared experiences spanning positionality, visibility, levels, status, and roles, we can better understand how we are all active contributors and stewards of our ADEI commitment.

For this next episode, we explore what is unfolding in HR around institutional equity and the role of the new AVP of People, Workplace, and Culture in stewarding the charge.

We are more than a role. This episode explores inclusion and belonging by encouraging the community to look beyond our traditional roles and titles. We must be intentional about getting to know each other as whole people, leveraging our unique talents and strengths, and cultivating meaningful relationships.

Often, we think of accessibility as the fault of the person living with a disability as opposed to the world we all create that causes one to feel excluded or prevent access. This fruitful conversation unpacks the systemic inequities to raise awareness about what exists so we can do better in helping our students and each other feel we are all thought of, we are all deserving, and we all belong.

Perceptions of higher education vs. careers in the trades have been an ongoing debate. In this episode, I sit down with Megan Clancy about communication justice, exploring the barriers and advancements of communication and dissecting areas of opportunity where we can actively utilize equitable communication strategies to enhance belonging. This episode highlights the importance of creating space to use the language of our hearts and principles of language justice while critically evaluating where white supremacy pervasively works to build communication barriers.
